03/10/2006 13:36 | Still quite heavily long here. No doubt this will drop when ex-div but a glimmer of good news regarding H2 could send this well over £2 and beyond. Despite this substantial special dividend, there's still plenty of cash in the balance sheet and prospects look good. Happy to be holding but patience required. | yotter
03/10/2006 12:39 | likely to go down by 36.5p I would think. However, will still be cheap following that, only more obviously so if one looks at PE. So a good prospect to go up a bit following the ex-div drop, but not immediately I suspect. | stevemarkus
03/10/2006 12:38 | Probably drop about 34.5p | v11slr
03/10/2006 10:05 | Looks like many are buying stock to bank the tasty .365p total divi payout on Oct 6. Any views on how the share price will perform on ex-div? | impartial
28/9/2006 19:48 | I still like the stock. I was expecting something like this. Cheers John | netcurtains
28/9/2006 13:40 | not really a profit warning. a change over in the businesses product offering in order to move with the chaging viewing market. HDTV is going to be massive. saw a tv at the airport the other week - such good picture quality. | johnpaul1
28/9/2006 12:53 | Amstrad FY profit up, but warns next year to be weaker due to product changes LONDON (AFX) - Set-top box maker Amstrad PLC has reported higher full-year profits and paid out 30 mln stg in special dividends, but warned the results of the current financial year will not be as strong due to the transition to a new product range. In the year to June 30, pretax profits rose to 20.2 mln from 19.6 mln last year while sales dipped 9.7 pct 91.7 mln stg. Amstrad said its cash pile is now at a level where it feels it appropriate to return 30 mln stg to shareholders via a special dividend worth 32 pence per share. The group will also pay a normal final dividend of 4.5p per share. However, looking ahead, the group said shareholders "should not expect the same level of result" as reported today due to the transition to HDTV products. Amstrad will start to ship new models in the current financial year but said "the benefit of full scale production volumes will not be seen until the following year and correspondingly we expect demand to decline on the current models in the current year." The group also cautioned that first deliveries of a new PVR set-top box for BSkyB PLC will be in the second half of the current financial year rather than in the first half as originally planned. newsdesk@afxnews.com | frontiercapital
28/9/2006 09:16 | AMT share price down but most of the trades are BUYs - Whenever there is buying interest in this share the share price seems to go down rather than up... | impartial
28/9/2006 08:32 | amt down due to negative forward looking statement. | weatherman
28/9/2006 08:05 | Thanks for that stevemarkus, --I'll have to look into that, in the past when I've let an XD day ride I've never received anything but the ammounts were relatively small, 32p is a bit different........... | gerd212
28/9/2006 07:46 | gerd - on ex-divi day, you should get the divi plus special div amounts into your account, but of course the share price will be marked down as well, so swings and roundabouts. | stevemarkus
28/9/2006 07:38 | Can anyone advise how the Spreadbetting companies will treat the special dividend. TIA | gerd212
28/9/2006 07:35 | Thanx V11SL...still sounds a good deal providing you can sell quick enough on the 6th???? Unlikely tho I guess as the MM's will mark the share price down pre opening. Thanx again. | palwing
28/9/2006 07:32 | palwing - Yes, you get the dividend if you buy today and hold at least until the 6th. However, the price will drop on the 6th when the share goes xd. It's a bit of a balancing act between the special dividend and the warning for next year. | v11slr
28/9/2006 07:19 | As shareholders will be aware, the Group has been generating significant levels of cash over the last few years. The cash is now at a level where the Board feels it appropriate to recommend to shareholders the return, by way of dividend, of #30m. It is proposed that the return of cash is by way of a special dividend of 32p per ordinary share and a normal final dividend of 4.5p (2005:4.5p) per ordinary share with both dividends to be paid on 8 December 2006 to shareholders on the register on 6 October 2006. The Company paid an interim dividend of 2.5p (2005: 2.0p) per ordinary share on 6 April 2006. Does this mean if anyone buys some shares TODAY, they will be eligble for the "Special Divi" ? If so, that has to be a bargain hasn't it? | palwing
18/9/2006 14:35 | Dividend not announced yet, so how could anybody know the ex-dividend date! But as a matter of interest, let me ask you, are you expecting a special dividend? I only ask because it is obvious that Alan Sugar is investing heavily in real estate, and it might now suit him to get some cash out of AMSTRAD, particularly as the Company is unlikely in the short term to have any pressing need for the excessively high cash balances that they are currently running. | mesquida
18/9/2006 14:00 | Some buying activity today. Looking forward to the 28th. Does anyone know ex-div date ? | yotter
