We are orime target for a buyout now, with gsa signed and gas coming online shortly, all the difficult work is complete. Not necessarily bad news, buying in to any dip here personally, seen this sort of thing before. Watch it spike in 6-8 months. Just a waiting game.

And all the BLVN RNS woundingly says is:

"Bowleven, the Africa focused oil and gas exploration group traded on AIM, announces that, further to the announcement of 19 November 2015, it has decided not to pursue its interest in the proposed acquisition from Aminex PLC of a 25% interest in the Kiliwani North Development Licence and a 50% interest in the Ruvuma PSA, in Tanzania, following the completion of due diligence."

The wording of the RNS is not negative. It looks like Blvn were being difficult but because the gas is now imminent AEX, its lenders, the Tanzanian authorities and Solo are able to stand up to them. This is a chance to strike a better deal with someone else.

Wonder how low it will go today. I mean with the GSA signed the debt should be ok... just how the hell do you do any drilling in Ntorya.

Oh well, that is very bad news. Really, really bad news.

Wonder what happened. Can't see Ntorya being drilled in 2016 now.

It's the hope that gets you.

Neither AEX or BLVN PIs seem to like the proposed deal. If the deal requires shareholder approval, I think a bigger sell job is needed to push it through on both sides

I'd be very surprised if it doesn't go through an EGM with 90%+ support.

Sure there are some small disgruntled shareholders about, notably on the BLVN side, but the PIs won't determine the outcome.

Perhaps, it's this shared ability to put a gloss on anything, no matter how dire, that explains why Aminex management get on so apparently well with the Tanzanians.

With Shell shareholder approval for the BG deal, going to be v interesting to see how Shell treats BG's Tanzania assets. If positively, and more particularly if the Shell applications for Blocks 9,10,11 and 12 also proceed, then Nyuni can be viewed in an altogether more positive light.

"Agreed it interesting that Solo are keeping completely quiet about their possible stake increase."

They don't have the money at the moment. They have 1.5 million cash at bank. After the GSA announcement there were a couple of brokers notes from them that looked like an attempt to raise funds to up the stake.

I think I'd prefer it they didn't go for it (assuming BLVN deal goes through). It will pay for itself in a couple of years. It's a good deal for them.

For what it's worth, I'm a net supporter of the deal, but just barely as it only values the whole of Ruvuma at about $20m.

Also, I just can't reconcile how JB talks about looking at other 'cheap' assets in Africa when he sells his own backyard for a song. Buying low and selling lower is not a good strategy.

As the Solo option expires by 12th February, there must be news to come there along with an indication of what happens to the 6.5% if it isn't exercised and how AEX will fill the consequent $3.5m funding gap (BLVN to increase their KN-1 stake?)

Agreed it interesting that Solo are keeping completely quiet about their possible stake increase. They may be expecting further progress on the BLVN deal, or waiting for more detail on likely stable production rates? Or possibly just realised that the back of the sofa doesn't have $3.5m hidden in it? We'll see. Either way, provided the BLVN deal goes through and production starts as expected, I don't think exchanging another 6.5% of KN-1 production going forwards for $3.5m now would present too much of a problem.

Regarding Ruvuma, Ritson says news on drilling there likely within a few weeks, so not long, hopefully, to get a better idea of schedule and plans.

With crude down around $30 per barrel, special situations remain the only real triggers for the stoic investors still holding small cap oil stocks.

Do they really think that? Kind of miss the elephant in the room there!

With regard to the Solo connection what is not being heard is mention of an intention to take up the $3.5m option on the additional 6.5% of KN-1. Indeed, in his previous interview with Charlotte (@55453) when she refers to the Solo interest as "just over 6%" NR conspicuously does not respond except to translate that level of interest to cash flow.

What was especially disappointing in both today's clips was hearing that the Ntorya drilling is now "further out, later in the year" rather than "towards the end of Q1" as our Mr B last gave as the most likely timing. Bearing in mind that the original Appraisal Licence drilling obligation was not met and then extended to June 2015, TPDC are being extraordinarily forbearing and I can't help wondering what pound of flesh they are going to exact and not forgetting the 4 explo well obligation by December this year with up to 15% of KN-1 at stake there.

A further release from TPDC on their LNG project in case anyone wants to read broken english via Google translate. It relates to the clearing of land, which has been the biggest impediment to date. Good to see this making progress as it would lead to significant FDI into TZ and raise the investment profile of the country. We would be an indirect beneficiary, even if we only develop Nyuni as a near-shore play.

having said that, oil shares will be a strong buy at some point soon. Not oil exploration companies though. I'm watching Shell and Tullow
