28/1/2016 11:37 | Some good news out of Solo today. Perhaps a BRR update with NR later today? Always good for a tidbit insight into the company's 'other' investments | vike1
28/1/2016 10:03 | I hate the complexity of mass interactions. Standard Chartered probably use iPads. "MANILA--Standard Chartered Bank said Thursday it expected oil prices to sharply rebound this year, with Brent crude possibly rising to as high as $75 a barrel" Skin that seasonal oil demand, does it come with a flake? | gerryjames
28/1/2016 09:31 | I think it's fun to discuss bottoms but we simply can't know. The complexity of mass interactions makes it impossible. You can only make hedged bets over long time periods. | bunbooster2
28/1/2016 08:49 | MORNING CHAPS!!! Was the bottom last week? I mean the real bottom, you know when the shoeshine boy begins to talk about 10 dollar oil and the end of civilisation. While in the meantime Tullow bounces 50%+ off intraday lows in a couple of days for example and reports left and right about extraction costs as low as $10 no debt and cash reserves are banded-about by others easing administration concerns. Feels a little like it although the real issues still remain concerning the wider Global Economy. Shell now officially offshore at the end of the day as BG Groups approval seen as a formality. "Shell's move isn't just a $50 billion bet on gas but also a wager against crude oil as the energy industry's future, Maarten Wetselaar, the chief of Shell's newly created gas division, said in an interview." Good Luck. | gerryjames
27/1/2016 14:36 | Funny that the GSA has the same price for gas that WRL got at near $100 oil. Local gas sales aren't affected by the downturn really. No, no real link between domestic gas prices and PoO. Peter | greyingsurfer
27/1/2016 11:03 | I suppose there's no way to know. It's just the market. For what it's worth I think it's just the general downturn. Funny that the GSA has the same price for gas that WRL got at near $100 oil. Local gas sales aren't affected by the downturn really. Ah well, roll up for the East Africa show and the drills of 2016. | bunbooster2
27/1/2016 10:14 | I'd say a smaller stake is worth more because less dilution is required to fund bringing Ruvuma gas to market, but who knows? I agree 100%, but I have seen criticism of the deal from the point of view of reducing the size of the position in Ruvuma - mad in my view, but it's possible some may have sold on that basis. I was really just hypothesising about possible reasons, other than the state of the market, for the drop in the share price since the deal was announced. Peter | greyingsurfer

27/1/2016 08:12 | "The other factor I've wondered over is whether a large holder, or several smaller ones, have for whatever reason decided they are less interested in AEX if they only have a smaller share of Ruvuma than they did - even if that is in exchange for funds to do the work - and have been selling. No holding RNSs so not a single big holder presumably, but possibly a number of smaller ones?" I'd say a smaller stake is worth more because less dilution is required to fund bringing Ruvuma gas to market, but who knows? | bunbooster2
27/1/2016 07:57 | Lol... "Commenting on how to finance the plan, Dr Kijaji said that much focus will be on private sector, public sector and developing financial institutions. Other sources will include foreign market bonds, Diaspora bonds, strategic partners’ grants and donations, sovereign borrowing and exploring other financing instruments such as private sector financing window in the African Development Bank." Not a clue in other words. Pie in the sky. | gerryjames
27/1/2016 07:47 | Surprisingly no mention of a space programme: However: "The Deputy Minister hinted that there will be development of Mtwara and Lindi as a new heavy industry growth, power generation, gas economy and range of industries related to gas." | warbaby43
26/1/2016 19:55 | Demand for petrol goes up in summer, demand for heating oil goes up in winter. They are not the same thing. There is however, greater demand for petrol in the summer than greater demand for heating oil in the winter - but that could change. | joestalin
26/1/2016 18:16 | Actually demand for oil goes up in the Summer as people use their cars more. | ngms27
26/1/2016 18:00 | A rise in the price of oil is I fear a long way off. The warmer Spring weather will soon be reducing demand in the northern hemisphere, and Iran with its countless billions of barrels of oil has now joined the party, simply adding to the oversupply glut and forcing the price down further. | skinwalker
26/1/2016 15:28 | There's no doubt that on fundamentals AEX is much better off now that it was prior to the BLVN deal and the GSA. But the share price is down. I think most of that simply reflects the general malaise of the O&G market at present (even though AEX's likely future revenues are independent of the PoO). Certainly confirmation of the BLVN deal being finalised, gas plant commissioning, news of actual commercial rates at KN-1, and a drilling program for Ruvuma will all help. But the things that I suspect will finally move the share price here are change in market sentiment - a rise in the oil price, however bizarre that may be in the short term - and actual revenues flowing into the company from KN-1. The other factor I've wondered over is whether a large holder, or several smaller ones, have for whatever reason decided they are less interested in AEX if they only have a smaller share of Ruvuma than they did - even if that is in exchange for funds to do the work - and have been selling. No holding RNSs so not a single big holder presumably, but possibly a number of smaller ones? Peter | greyingsurfer
26/1/2016 14:52 | Hi Blackgold - yes the $3 is good news. There's always something holding the share price back though. Maybe one day... | skinwalker
26/1/2016 14:14 | well, we all know how long imminent is | blackgold00
26/1/2016 13:54 | Is shortly better than imminent | qackers
26/1/2016 13:24 | bigdouble @ lse Today 07:20. "From NR Expecting commissioning news shortly" well shortly cant be long, so must be news this this week then. | blackgold00
26/1/2016 12:42 | hi skin, it was good we got the $3 price confirmed that we'll receive, but I don't think the market will be happy until they know the actual rate and the start date of gas production. I wonder if the Bowleven deal is dependent on that info as well, it might well come under the eye of the Due diligence BLVN are currently carrying out. "Final well preparations, which are currently ongoing, are being completed prior to testing and commissioning of the new plant. During this phase production rates will be varied to optimise well life and establish commercial rates" "The start of commercial operations will be mutually agreed between the TPDC and the Company after testing and commissioning has been completed." | blackgold00
26/1/2016 11:36 | Well that's it then! The GSA made sweet F..k all difference | skinwalker
25/1/2016 12:05 | Interview...not news then. There's got to be some news soon, this is a big year. Tanzania is the worlds 125th largest oil producer with 10 barrels a day. | gerryjames
25/1/2016 12:00 | Ah right, it does smell a bit gassy | blackgold00
25/1/2016 11:37 | Probably just excitement over Australia day. | bunbooster2
25/1/2016 11:16 | if it smells like a fart, it probably is | skinwalker |
