I don't think it would have been Put-8, Mintington, unless they were doing a bit of the oil equivalent of "scrumping", which might not go down too well either with the owners or the agency.

Our 50% of Put 8 was only acquired 2 years ago, in January 2016, prior to which we had no interest in Put-8. A really good deal, from a private owner, along with Coati and some tax loses, it cost us $7m and then then they farmed part of Coati back out.

Not much success finding detail,but the thought is that, as the operator of Put-8 seems to be involved in the adjacent blocks, it might be drilled from one of their pads, rather than Platinillo.

Another good inventory draw today reinforcing the oil price at $60 plus.Can someone confirm back to me.....two or three years ago we did drill from Platanillo into and under Put-8 some 8000 feet horizontal offset but the drill-bit got stuck or broke off.....it remains the only Amerisur drill in southern Columbia ever to fail to discover oil due to it being incomplete. Amerisur stated that they would return some day as meanwhile they concentrated on the northern areas. Did Giles just let the cat out the bag,when he refers to three then four drills.....perhaps whilst we are awaiting new N sand infrastructure and concrete Pad preparation our self-owned drill ( which I am sure is not sitting around idle) has gone back to Plats western boundary to bypass and complete.Can anyone find that old RNS.

Does it seem that Amerisur is being positioned for JW's and GC's historic stock in trade strategy - build a business then sell it to another in the same business, probably Chinese this time round, or indeed Indian?Everything GC said seemed to be about claiming value, both current and to come for the lucky buyer.Remember Emerald? And, of course, Majestic and Pets.

CARACAS, Venezuela -- Venezuela's oil output is collapsing, making it unlikely the South American country can benefit from rising global prices for oil and increasing the chances of a debt default this year that could turn its economic crisis into a humanitarian disaster.

Production fell 440,000 barrels a day to 1.8 million barrels in the 12 months to November, according to official statistics. The nearly 20% decline so far ranks among the deepest in the industry's history. Russia's output slid 23% during the fall of the Soviet Union and Iraq's output dropped by the same share after the 2003 U.S. invasion, according to data from OPEC and BP Statistical Review.

The collapse has been triggered by a deep economic crisis and widespread corruption and mismanagement, compounded by a purge of state-run Petroleos de Venezuela SA by President Nicolás Maduro that has paralyzed the oil giant. U.S. sanctions have scared off some of the last remaining investors.

"In Venezuela there is no war, nor strike, but what's left of the oil industry is crumbling on its own," said Evanán Romero, a former PdVSA director.

He has no leverage though, as the Ecuadorians seem to have placed Amerisur over a barrel and as there was no comments to shareholders prior to the OBA or even in the initial commentary on it, you have to assume they did not do sufficient due diligence, as the RODA and allied matters that would constrain performance would be something expected to be sorted out BEFORE a project commenced and at early planning stage

On LSE they are raising the question that the innovative drilling re Put 8 may not be from Plat 8.

Well done on the Bitcoin, Lucy. Are you looking to invest that here at a lower entry point? It does seem that this is being gripped again by the traders, but eventually value has to be acknowledged by the market or the company gets taken out: acquisitions and mergers are always looking for such opportunities.

I'm sure there will be quid pro quo if Amer are involved financially regarding Ecuador's infrastructure. If GC is doing a royal visit next month he'll be after something, and to be fair they've done pretty well in recent years taking advantage of economic/political circumstances.

This could EASILY go above 50p/share in 2018, or they could hide more bad news and it could bomb to the low teens. The risk/reward on offer won't suit everyone, but debt free, generating about $2m/week and exploration prospects (fully funded) galore make it plenty interesting to some.
