Cant understand the market cap of SOU is a lot more than us makes no sense.A lot of hype again on that board waiting for test results, rather them than me.

Agree on the first two but the connection with SOU put me off ECHO given what happened to the SOU share price but haven't I studied ECHO closely recently. Fiona McCs departure also seemed a bit unexpected? Just reminded myself as she went to IOG which has some potential financing issues right now.

Have my eye on #PPC too bounty but put #AMER and #ECHO head and shoulders in value, potential and risk/reward terms way above others.

No mention of gold stars or tickets here please 😠😉

gersemi - I would certainly add #ECHO to that list.

Check out their Tapi Aike interest (with CGC/operator) - this is a multi TCF potential and high CoS with infrastructure prox and confirmed: source rock, reservoir, trap and deliverability/pressure from previous drills undertaken in the 1970s which were then targeting oil (rather than gas) one of which 'blew out' in spectacular fashion and burnt for many weeks. Things should kick-off there in June after the 3d seismic over Tapi currently underway. Light oil and gas finds in their Frac C also now being stimulated - with one v deep column in the emerging volcanoclastic tobifera play (could be a game-changer pre TA). Mr Parsons drew on lessons from #SOU before setting-up ECHO. Looks a proper Latam gem in another seriously over-loooked and under-exploited area (Austral Basin).

Re #AMER
Indico was an up-dip drill and given Mariposa result, prolific source presence and geology it always had pretty solid CoS, i.e. not unusual for a well researched Llanos drill. Indico seems different and seems to have two converging migration pathways, one corridor NNW/SSE the other from the NE/SW, so this could indeed be a very large accumulation indeed - both deeper AND wider. Drilling SW from Indico-1 into the green relief areas (as per the 2018 AGM 'Aguila' seismic slide) will provide answers to some interesting questions - as of course will that drill to the NE - saying nothing for the other 2 appraisals.

We're in for a breathless next few weeks/months. Exec/BoD of course are clearly managing expectations - after all, no 'gold stars' awarded for overstating and under-delivering. Cautiously very optimistic probably captures things, but opportunities like this need to be treated with the respect and due process they deserve. After all they don't tend to come around so often these days, especially onshore with evacuation infrastructure and mkt proximity.

The proverbial mezzo-soprano is in the wings, tuning up...beautiful 'pipes' believe me ;o)

Maybe we will get the quarter figures tomorrow if no during the week.I would expect the share price to be positive if we get some positive news from a drilling update

HUR, JOG, AMER, PPC & SDX are my current meaningful O&G holdings.
HUR & AMER are the most exciting near term with JOG possibly unlikely to do much until at least March.
All have political risks, but are diverse enough to turn a decent return in 2019 I'd hope.

Cheers I'll check out those I am not familiar with. Also interested in PMO but concerned that rising interests rates there could outflank loan repayments if interest rates do continue to rise although production is impressive. JOG I had a look at but decided not to invest.

I'm no O & G guru-expert.

These are my oil stocks in no particular order of size

AMER - the most value to be had I believe and zero debt with huge value to be released

ECO - Guyana (explosively prospective as per Exxon-Hess success)

A few PMO for my sins but indebted..- today's news could prove troublesome in the morning but over time I believe PMO will do good things..it needs to divest, deleverage and focus

Looking at with serious potential

JOG - NS
JSE
FOG - NT (AUS)
PVR - Irish Sea

that's it

Yes I agree. Also I like RRE. Do you have any favourites in the oil sector? I'm looking around now that FPM has been taken out. I used to like SDX but no longer feel comfortable with that one give share price movements of late.

Bounty - No, not yet. When the FPSO's in place at Lancaster and production is at full tilt then I'm gonna take a look at it, assess the lie of the land, as it were. I'd be surprised if HUR is an independent company end of 2019. West of Shetland is the prime basin now in the NS - consolidation surely

Another well at Mariposa as well -

Harrison elaborates:

“I think the next near-term drilling results are likely to come from our CPO-5 block in Llanos. Earlier this week we announced the drilling of the Indico well was progressing well and we expect results in the next few weeks. That will be followed on by another well, ‘Sol’ further down that block, and potentially a fourth well which would be next to the Mariposa well that has been most successful for us this year.”

The Mariposa-1 well was drilled in May 2017 and is currently producing 3,200 bopd. Production has been stable for the past year, and Harrison tells us there has been no drop in well-head pressure ‘which would indicate it is a potentially substantial structure”.

He goes on to say: “If the Indico-1 well performs anything like that it would point to the fact the CPO-5 block could be very prospective and perhaps larger than we’d hoped for”

-

Indico-1 did indeed outperform and therefore we may well be looking at a 'potentially substantial structure' and 'very prospective'. No wonder both companies are racing to drill and the president tweeting the news.....

So going south-west, then north-east with the first two directional wells.

This could get VERY exciting in the coming weeks and months.
Some background on directional drilling, and an excert from the recent CPO-5 update.

The scale of the reservoir thickness and oil column at Indico-1 has important implications for the prospectivity of the area within the LS3 play, as well as the degree of fill within Indico. In particular, additional structures alongside the Indico structure may now be considered to form part of the play fairway. This has led the Company and the Operator to agree an augmented forward drilling programme, with additional directional wells to be drilled immediately from the Indico-1 location. The first additional well will be Calao-1, which is targeting a structure alongside Indico to the southwest, towards the Aguila structure. On a simple structural basis, the Company estimates potential resources at Calao of between 2 and 7 mmbo. However, given the results at Indico-1, which indicate the potential for combination trapping, the Company believes potential resources may be significantly higher. The same holds for the second well to be drilled after Calao-1, named Pavo Real-1, which targets a similar structure to Calao, adjoining Indico to the northeast. Structural evaluation by the Company estimates potential resources of 2 to 23 mmbo in this prospect. It is envisaged that following these wells, a further two appraisal wells will be drilled in the Indico structure from the Indico-1 pad, with the objective of refining resources and reserves estimates. Sol-1 is also drill-ready, and the Company is considering with its partner whether that well should be drilled following the programme at Indico pad or whether a second drilling rig should be contracted to drill the well in the short term.

So combination trapping essentially suggests the potential for multiple discoveries?

I found this diagram on page 24 of a Geopark presentation (operators of CPO-34 to big field to the north west) is useful to understand the geology and the implications of the recent drill.

Amer were targeting the green humps (compression structures) but based on the comment in the recent RNS, may also have found synthetic structure traps similar the massive field above.

RNS: "However, given the results at Indico-1, which indicate the potential for *combination trapping*, the Company believes potential resources may be significantly higher "

Glad the director holdings post seemed to help many on this BB. It was good to see so much "skin" in the company from the BOD. Also interesting to see that only 13 investors (myself being one!) out of 412 in this year's Stockchallenge selected AMER as a company to do well in 2019. I am hoping those 13 will be towards the top of the rankings come year end. Will be very interesting to see!

sogesit - thanks for the very comprehensive explanation. So they already have a pretty good idea, based on pressure readings, as to the depth of the prognosed OWC's at Mariposa & Indico, which will assist in well placement, as they appraise the two discoveries with further wells. Yes, sorry, my inverted bowl, way to simplistic, more to convey an explanation! Just trawled through some previous presentations. Slide 15 of gives some clues on Aguila. And to the area SW of Indico.
