GC opened by telling us the emergency exit locations. The nearest being immediately behind him proved to be an unnecessary precaution on his part of the planning.
The formal part of the AGM (resolutions) passed without a word from the assembled unwashed, nor from the washed, all dark suited and assembled on one side of the room.

JW then gave another trade mark, ‘tour de force', presentation for well over an hour before questions. The slides more or less cover what he said. He exuded his usual keen optimism and hints of even better things ahead. As mentioned above, he was particularly enthusiastic about CPO-5 (I thought it was a Star Wars robot?) which exceeded his expectations.

The person from Colombia who won the annual freeby trip to England competition was the Head of Drilling. His only contribution was to change the slides.

ML asked a question about gas (not suggesting he is a Welsh Windbag). Instead of being flared off and requiring payment of royalties, it is used to produce electricity to power the pumps etc, which does not incur royalties. Win-win.

Q asked about AMER’s assistance with relief following the landslide. JW appeared genuinely concerned at the plight and loss of the people involved and confirmed our presence.

The next question (from behind me, I could not see who they were) was about the end game. JW said he just does his job and his job is to create value. JW had no exit strategy other than just doing is job.

The final question was about third party oil in the OBA. The pace we build our own capacity, that will not be likely. This is not a priority other than for necessary blending of our own oil to the required level of API.

GC then closed the meeting. He stayed longer than I have seen before – in fact he was about the last there.

Fawlty Towers excelled itself - again.
The small Danish pastries were OK but the coffee ran out and they missed a commercial opportunity by not having the bar open after the meeting that lasted close on two hours.

Accordingly Lucy, Q and I followed ML to a nearby pub for a post mortem beer. In the pub topics varied from noting the only other customers were a large number of young girls with babies in push chairs to Lucy’s long held collection of Rolf Harris paintings (hopefully these topics had no connection). Not his best timed investment!

No freebies. No video, live or recorded. No handouts other than a three-week old Brokers Note that had run out when I arrived at exactly 9.30.

It was good seeing a number of familiar faces again and talking with some.

Jam – one day, Rodney.

The buying and selling still looks like a contrived battle of wits when looking at the similarity between blue and red volumes throughout the day. There appears still to be an agenda, but what is it? Talk of the seller having stopped looks premature for now. Someone is having too much fun.

Not exactly packed - about 40 in the audience - lots of "guests", about 10 at the front. It looked like the block booking at the hotel was to keep pi's out of the bar rather than to accommodate suits. I think the consensus was that this is a bloody good, profitable company with spectacular upside and a very very confident (and modest) CEO. The hostility and frustration with the bod was not evident from the floor as in previous meetings. For those who haven't met JW, I find him to be a charming and personable guy who tells you what's going on, and what isn't. Worth a 300 mile round trip.

there was quite a few from BMO Capital markets, in fact they were handing out their broker note dated April 21. Its quite a comprehensive report of 14 pages printed on both sides.

Tbh I should have gone to the hotel for drinks Monday night and had a chat, but I felt as there wasnt many PI going, if any, I would have been like Billy no mates!

Well looks like most is already reported.
Officially all resolutions etc as Tony predicted.

The Goss:
RH has sold about 63M and has about 67M left and may or may not have told a respected third party that he is stopping selling for now. Unless that is that there's legs on a sub-text conspiracy theory on a shorting circle.

JW appeared to confirm that, if nearby wells are productive enough, there could well be a second under-river pipe to get the oil out cheaply. Something that first surfaced a couple of AGMS back.

A question in the main meeting re relief for the landslide hit town confirmed that relief measures were still ongoing but Amer wasn't playing it up as they didn't want it to seem that it was merely a PR move.

Questioned on the Farc etc progress, it appears that the company is focused on local level initiatives that will make it more profitable for local people to produce other crops than Coke and thus make the oil presence more acceptable that the men with greasy hair and guns. JW insisted that they weren't in the business of paying Danegeld.

Questioned on the Indigenes poisoned well story, it appears that there are none of that tribe in any area that Amer operates and that one of the promoters of this "Fake News" story is allegedly an Ecuadorian lawyer who has no legal status in the country who is looking to get a slice of the compo action. Think a certain UK law firm and Iraq.

Amer has in fact won an accreditation for its handling of Environmental and Indigenous population liaison in addition to its 9001 & 18001.

The sudden move to drilling more wells in this current year than in all its previous history passed largely unremarked on the floor and we were presented with several charts showing how the new production targets might be reached.

Since JW reported on practically every current well operation, one can only hope that GC allows an extra couple of hours at the next AGM to continue on in the same vein. Somewhere between 16-21 extra, all fully funded by production and reserves.

The move doesn't appear to change any any of the exit scenarios etc that have been discussed here in the past, they could all still be on the cards including a bid.
However, the beefing up of the board and the expansion of operations and consequent turnover, certainly ups the ask a lot which will no doubt cheer us humble PI's.

Enthusiastic mention was made of the new acquisitions and acreages but again, potential future acquisitions etc weren't discussed. Fenix was mention as a self-contained disposal item when there was interest at the right price.

It was good to meet old and new faces again and to share a pint with a few die-hards.

JW implied that there had been assurances that the infrastructure across the river was fit to handle OBA throughput. Whoever provided these was clearly unaware that it was in some disrepair. He did say he's spending a lot of his time in Quito these days.
