Investors need to wait a “week or three” for Brockham well findings - Lenigas

14:17 02 Feb 2017

Findings from the recently reopened Brockham well in southern England to open up Britain's onshore oil sector, according to David Lenigas.

Investors backing Britain’s onshore oil sector will find out more about the potential of the Weald basin in the next “week or three”, so says David Lenigas.

He is chairman of Doriemus PLC, has been involved in a number of the investors in the Horse Hill (aka Gatwick Gusher) discovery and is an outspoken proponent of Britain’s onshore oil potential.

Lenigas, in an interview, highlighted that the recently reworked Brockham well neighbouring Horse Hill had been a success.

The Angus Energy Plc (LON:ANGS) operated well, 10% owned by Doriemus, confirmed that Kimmeridge and other formations appear to be the same in structure to the oil-bearing sections of the Horse Hill-1 well.

Analysis in currently underway, and according to Lenigas there are reasons to be optimistic.

Lenigas said: “I’m guessing, just like the punters are guessing, what will Brockham flow?

“All I can tell you right now, without making anybody an insider, is we are very excited about the logs. What we’re seeing is very similar characteristics to what we saw at Horse Hill.

“The proof in the pudding will be in the eating, when we do the flow tests, which is not too far away.”

“And I think that then opens up the whole Weald basin for other players to say look there is substantial amounts of oil in the Kimmeridge limestones, and it is shallow and it doesn’t require fracking.”

Running over the upcoming schedule he added: “Over the course of the next week or three we’ll be releasing the results of the log work, the maturity analysis.

“The whole concept is [to see whether] the Weald limestones in the Kimmeridge naturally fractured like it was at Horse Hill, and then obviously we’re going to move into production testing.”

“And the beautiful thing about the Brockham field is that its already a producing licence … Brockham has been producing happily in that part of the south of England, just south of the M25, for 40 years. So, the exciting thing about Brockham is when we start flowing the oil we can put it straight into the industry.”

Lol we're going to find out soon enough, the fine detail of the log data, free flowing oil from the naturally fractured limestones looks very likely, and how much gas pressure have they got in the Corillian??? GLA holders Brockham Update soon and Regulatory approval news from Greenland coming. :-)

Hmmm....Lenigas doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who can keep his mouth shut. Perhaps it's what he is NOT saying that is more revealing. Reading between the lines etc it does not sound to me that Brockham is exactly gushing oil.

Lenigas Interview Transcript
It all really started with the Horse Hill Well. The South of Englnad has been producing little bits of oil for over 50 years and the largest onshore oil field in Western Europe is Wytch Farm which used to be owned by BP which has produced nearly 500 million barrels of oil and the whole concept of is there oil in the Weald basin, is the Weald actually mature for oil? Horse Hill sort of broke that story open; the news went global. A lot of people did not believe it at the time but over the course of the following year with big global majors like Slumberger and Nutech confirming that the potential of the Weald is in the hundred billion barrel plus range people started taking it quite serious. The Horse Hill well was a spectacular result. The highest recorded onshore flow rate of any well drilled in the UK. That is going into long-term extended well testing later on this year – I think March/April we’re waiting for the final decisions there. And the other really key part of the puzzle is. Horse Hill is interesting but that is over 55 square miles. Is the Kimmeridge limestone going to be able to flow elsewhere in the Weald basin and Brockham was a very important part of that whole key. Brockham sits right against Horse Hill on the NW boundary. I’m the chairman of Doriemus and we’ve just done some work with Angus energy where we announced the other day that we had finished the work at Brockham 1 which is the original BP discovery at Brockham. All zones that we were looking for on the log analysis and the work we have done have identified hydrocarbons and in particular gas. Now over the course of the next week or three we will be releasing the results of the log work and maturity analysis and the whole concept of the weald limestones in the Kimmeridge naturally fractured like it was at Horse Hill. And then going to move into production testing. The beautiful thing about the Brockham field is that it is already a producing license. Horse Hill now needs to go through two, three four five, years of permitting, flow tests

, appraisal wells, government legislation to turn it from an exploration site into a development site but Brockham’s been producing happily in that part of the South of England just south of the M25 for 40 years. So the exciting thing about Brockham is when we start flowing the oil we can put it straight into the industry. And I’m guessing just like all the punters are guessing is “what is Brockham going to flow”. All I can tell you right now without making anybody an insider is we are very happy about the logs. We are seeing is very similar characteristics to what we saw at Horse Hill. The proof of the pudding is going to be in the eating when we do the flow tests – not too far away and then that, I think, opens up the whole Weald basin for other players to go look, there is substantial amount of oil in these Kimmeridge limestones, and it’s shallow and it Lenigas Interview Transcript

Lenigas says “very important” Brockham well is key to unlocking potential of UK’s Weald basin

12:30 02 Feb 2017

We’re joined by David Lenigas, serial entrepreneur and proponent of Britain’s onshore oil industry, to discuss the programme at the Brockham oil field and what it means for the Weald basin’s Kimmeridge oil resources.

He also talks about the spectacular well results from Horse Hill, the upcoming flow testing programme there, and what comes next for oil firms targeting south east England.

Graphite demand from lithium ion batteries to more than treble in 4 years

Batteries, China, EV, GraphiteBenchmark Mineral Intelligence

Demand for graphite (carbon) used as anode material in lithium ion batteries is set to increase by over 200% in the next four years as global cell production surges on the back of maturing pure electric vehicle demand and the inception of the utility storage market.

New data from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence forecasts the anode market – which is nearly exclusively served by naturally sourced spherical graphite and synthetically produced graphite – to increase from 80,000 tpa in 2015 to at least 250,000 tpa by the end of 2020 while the market could be as large as 400,000 tpa in the most bullish of cases with no supply restrictions.

Taking the most conservative case, Benchmark estimates that over 360,000 tonnes of medium flake graphite will be needed as a feedstock source for the spherical material by 2020. This is nearly a doubling of the flake concentrate market in 2015 should the natural-to-synthetic demand proportions remain the same in 2020.

At present, China produces 100% of the world’s spherical graphite which is predominately sourced from mines in Heilongjiang province in the country’s north-east.

Demand is being underpinned by major expansions in the lithium ion battery industry that are underway worldwide as the sector matures from megawatt plants to gigawatt scale operations.

Benchmark is tracking at least 12 lithium ion megafactories worldwide, seven of which are located in China and two in the US. By far the largest plant under construction is Tesla Motors’ Gigafactory 1 in Nevada – a $5bn investment set to reach its 35GWh capacity by 2020.

However, nearly 70% of new lithium ion battery demand for raw materials will be coming from China as the country’s major cell manufactures, such as ATL and Lishen, expand their operations in a race to become the world’s lowest cost producer.

Investments in new lithium ion battery capacity out to 2020 are in excess of $12bn and rising according to Benchmark data.

This is set to have a significant impact on demand for graphite anode material as cell manufacturers seek to lock up long term supplies of the material.

Lol Alba had enough cash from last year's placing for all of the near term commitments. They raised £150k 2 weeks ago when the Directors exercised their options at 0.3p.a sure sign of confidence ...and i think they would have waited if they were planning a placing at .25p numptie hitman. ..current work at Brockham already covered as is initial planned operations at HH.....if Brockham limestones free-flow so then they may raise funds towards development, by which time Alba's share price will be much higher with confirmation of free flowing limestones and no doubt Greenland regulatory approval. Gla holders On and Up.....significant upside more than likely on delivery of positive news and data.:-)

Upward momentum of share price in anticipation of newsflow expected........Presumably Alba wouldn't have released the Greenland update unless they were sure that the Regulatory Approval for the project to advance and the acquisition of the remaining % held by Artemis and had been confirmed, and so this could have been the reason for delay in releasing the update, and therefore Greenland Regulatory Approval next imho........the Limerick update could come at anytime but Brockham's update within the next couple of weeks.........the EA consultation period for HH's EWT closes this Thursday and so Permit Approval very likely during Febuary, depending on the timing of Surrey County Councils Planning and Regulatory meeting to rubber stamp proceedings. Gl Exciting times and a re-rate or two as potential transformational news is delivered. On and Up!!! ;-)

If there are Super Jumbo sized flakes in abundance, then no doubt a JV will be very likely, and or something similar to Greenland Minerals and their uranium prospect in Greenland.

Lol Dipstick, and how much would Super Jumbo Sized Graphite flakes in massive abundance be worth, not to mention the other rare earth minerals that appear to present....according to Alba development plans we should find out their true market potential this year....and the same with HH and Brockham you numptie, it's not about how much Alba has paid for the 14.75% interest, it's about how much oil is confirmed recoverable....that's how small cap explorers work you cretin.....Gla holders On and Up, higher highs and higher lows as Alba's share price continues its upward momentum...a multi-bag bag in the making from breathtaking recoverable volume of Oil.at HH and Brockham and Greenland's treasure chest of graphite and gold.:-)

But a couple of months ago Artemis sold their 41% share in Amsitoq to Alba for only £150,000 so on what metrics are you valuing this asset? If 41% is worth £150,000 then 100% is worth £365,000.
