Buffalo and Petrofac update


On the Buffalo project, the integrated Carnarvon and Petrofac team have worked to identify and order key equipment to meet the project timeline to start drilling before the end of the year.

This is particularly important in the current market for scheduling reasons given the impact that COVID has had on procurement times for drilling equipment.

At present, the tender process has advanced considerably for a suitable jack-up rig and we’re looking to lock that in over the coming months with support from our new partner, Advance Energy, and the Timor-Leste Government.

Buffalo Project Drilling Manager from Petrofac, Chris Holgate, said the entire team is working hard to ensure the well achieves all its objectives in a safe and efficient manner.

“We are managing this project with a diligent approach, reviewing and replicating the lessons learnt from the previous nine successful wells,” Chris said.

“I’ve been doing this type of work for a long time now and I have to say, the Carnarvon and Petrofac teams have been working very well together.

“We will be looking for every opportunity to achieve incremental improvements with the aim of minimising well cost without compromising the Buffalo-10 well.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Carnarvon and its shareholders, and for Petrofac, and it is now showing very tangible progress.”

the Noble Tom Prosser jack-up rig is contracted to Carnarvon and will be used by us to drill Bufallo in q4.

as we have seen in the latest presentation by Carnarvon the drill is still scheduled for q4.

Carnarvon have full control over the rig and as such we need to wait for them to issue a rig contract rns,something which they may be in no hurry to do as they already have control of the rig and have booked it all the way.

ppl should not be hung up about a rig contract rns landing.

all is in hand. there will be no delay.

bad gateway. Really cool video. Thanks for that. Wish I could have attended that conference booth and spoken to Adrian Cook and their senior geophysicist, Ms Mcgee of Carnarvon face to face. They do seem a really top class professional company, which is great for ADV

With regards to ADV, I don't mind whatever challenges the company faces whilst progressing. And the potential for ADV appears significant. As long as the directors live up to certain standards of communication with shareholders, in which case any operational difficulties or delays they report, don't really matter (to me). I rarely get excited about investment decisions, however ADV really does feel like a great opportunity. Hoping that it lives up to my expectations.

re earlier convo's agree by now it would have been good manners at least for ADV to have updated.
CVN however had a presentation for the industry on the 23rd, confirmed drilling end of year.
Weird video, its interactive and you can move it about and zoom in and out with the mouse..

Not surprised Hazl. Nothing is guaranteed but in this game this is as good as it gets ie 95% geological chance of success and 86% chance of commercial success. Some are waiting for the rig confirmation to drill in Q4, but for me that is a given and will come in a week or two. Thereafter we will only move upwards and we all know it.

on the long term investing - believing etc

it is very rare - that management can earn enough trust - that it can be entrusted with the capital in the long term - not many teams are worth it

long term is a modern "mantra" spread by schools, gurus etc - and is indeed the best investing strategy - as Livingstone said - making profits just by sitting

what is not said loud enough is - there are not many investment cases worth investing long term. just investing long term is usually a recipes for the disaster

GSG is imho quite right - we have to be cynical, critical etc for a very long time in order not to be scammed - before we can relax and become "long term" investor

Past success means not very much - agreed - different circumstances - different results - I fell for it too many times. Each day starts anew

stating cautious "metrics" - setting observation "metrics" - is a good "tool" and a useful check list - if the management can be trusted in the long term

GSG are you sure you listened to the interview carefully enough?
I just listened again and didn't hear anything about the drilling rig being announced within 4-6 weeks.
What I did hear was environmental approval had been secured, they've done the tendering and they were very close to being able to contract the rig and it would be happening probably somewhere between 4-6 weeks time with a target spud towards the end of the year, now looking like its going to be Octoberish.


From 18 minutes in (approx) The man in the interview seems to have gone out of his way to keep the timeline approximate.
