I think the message is clear - it is not just about Netflix. It is about content. One reason for the reduced number of Netflix subscribers is competition - reported in the press as significant - thus, the business is till there for ADF and likely to increase. This is not Netflix - it provides a service and there is plenty of competition for Netflix. Needless to point out, competitors would not be entering a market that was collapsing.

Following on from rivaldo's post and Mas above, extract from my recent piece following a catch up with management.

Proctor says that the major industry players have very large pockets with multi revenue streams and he views increasing competition in the space positively. “Netflix enjoyed the lie of the land for a long time without much in the way of competition and Amazon and others are really just starting out on their journey now. It will continue to evolve and that is good for us and subscribers too, so we don't see it as a problem for us, rather it is a positive thing.
Apple for instance are building their own studios here now and they will be here for a long time, so it is looking very good with positive signals that are contrary to what has been seen in the press around Netflix, so we are therefore positive and view the future as being very, very bright”.

Riv, further developments that will result in more investment in UK content creation from Hollywood too, which should benefit ADF by generating even more location filming here.

$1bn Sunset Waltham Cross film studio gets the green light

Hollywood is coming to Hertfordshire after planning officials gave the nod to the construction of a new $1 billion film studio in Broxbourne. The campus will be the first outside the US for Sunset Studios, the Hollywood film set where movies such as When Harry Met Sally and La La Land have been shot.

As the big streaming platforms battle it out for viewers, they are spending more on creating their own content, with the UK establishing itself as a key filming hub. Two of the biggest streamers, Disney+ and Netflix, are reportedly set to spend close to $50 billion this year making their own films and television series. “Sunset Waltham Cross Studios will be a world-renowned hub for content creation and creativity that will help assert UK’s role as a premier destination for creating entertainment, and a demonstration of our commitment to investing in the UK,” James Seppala, Blackstone’s head of real estate Europe.

Netflix's CEO says "Content spend will continue to grow but be “moderated”, with around $17 billion of spend each year through to 2023.

Which should be continued good news for ADF, particularly given the further growth in spending from the likes of Disney, Paramount, Amazon, Apple TV etc etc:

That´s a lotta lotta cancelled subs. Less subs, less revenue, less programme making, less biz for ADF? An accident waiting to happen here perhaps?

I would suggest that those who have an interest in the company, follow Marsden Proctor (CEO) on Twitter, as he has recently put out a few tweets, with good background information and a general update.

Cheers - here's what Robbie has to say. Very encouraging to hear the positive vibes from industry insiders:

"Trade of the day idea vote of the people went to Vikesh for Facilities by ADF, (ADF)

We were lucky to have a couple of very experienced TV and film professionals who both confirmed new productions were booming especially with new channels like Paramount.

That's important for ADF which runs the trucks and equipment needed for outside filming.

Both pros also gave the thumbs up to ADF which apparently has a good reputation in the industry.

A good look at the fundamentals reveals a company in great shape.

It seemed an excellent one to buy on the dips after the big sell off in small caps.

ADF should recover back to the 80s in time which is where I think it belongs."

Here's just five different examples from recent weeks of the continuing and rapid expansion of the UK's film and TV production capacity:

Massive new film and television production hub now being built around Reading supported by a £261.5m loan from Cain International:

The UK Global Screen Fund are providing £21.5m more funding to support the UK's "booming screen industries":

Dragon Studios in Cardiff expanding with £9m of further funding:

Plans in place for a huge "state-of-the-art" film studio in Marlow to create up to 4,180 jobs:

A new £13m film and TV studio approved for Derby:

What? You didn´t research the blossoming competition?

May explain why they still aren´t booked up for this year despite being very close months ago? Goodness, if production budgets get slashed, the downfall could be very quick.

None of you are considering the likely rise in competitive forces in a fairly new industry:

hxxps://www.wagonwheels.tv/

Small market. New entrants. Can lead very quickly to overcapacity. And that, for a hire company, spells disaster. May not happen of course.

Err I called LVCG all the way down until it had lost 99.9% of it´s value, and always maintained that at the very death it might morph into something different. Apart from a couple of daft speculative spikes it has been the worst performing share I´ve ever seen (that hasn´t gone bust). It may of course do better in future.

Any others you plonker?
