SL are absolute dire

The service is terrible

3 weeks to press a button to return cash.

The only reason I stay is the knowledge that any transfer to another provider will be a disaster leaving me unable to trade.

Must be thousands who can’t draw funds this tax year.

I see merit in that approach Gecko as I don't believe you get any discounts for having a larger investment with any one platform provider.

II and HL are two easy and decent platforms.
I also use IG as well.

Prefer to spread my assets rather than lump them all with one provider.

Watford. It's easy and intuitive to use. An added benefit is the prompt dividend payment almost as soon as the Market opens. £5.99 per trade with a freeby each month. £9.99 per month sub covering 2 accounts. 2% interest payable monthly. spud

Watfordhornet: I'm unfamiliar with HL but my two (soon to be three) grandkids blind trusts are with AJ Bell and I find that site simple to use.

I've found ii equally simple to use but then I'm in the early stages with both and not too active so far.

If you have a specific question perhaps about a process that you feel is bad at HL and wish to know if it's better at ii ask and I'll check it out myself to see how it works on ii (if I can).

I looked at HL, AJ Bell and ii for my SIPP back in Jan/Feb of this year in prep. for my move from Std Life. I selected ii mainly on the basis of cost coupled with the offer than was running in March offering £300 plus 6 x £12.99 free months.

I suspect the cost aspect will be the main driver for movement from other platforms and bodes well for abrdn providing they don't whack up the prices when they've hit their client number/value target.

I've moved £200k from S.L. to ii and I'm fully appreciate of the costs involved in re-investing with taxes and dealing fees not to mention the buy/sell split and possible entry fees for investment trusts. Moving is a once a decade exercise.

Yeah surprising that companies don't at least upload videos on YouTube demoing the platform.

I am looking at moving from HL to ii.Been looking today and would be good to look at the platform and how East to use.I do find HL very easy to use or maybe because used for 15 years just used to it.Did not appear anywhere to view the platform before registering

smurfy2001: I caught that offer. Six months with no platform fee which kicks-in on month seven at £12.99 a month. Trades are £5.99 each. They also paid me £300 given the value of my transfer-in cash from Std. Life. This element was in my nominated bank account with about 8-9 days after the transfer money arrived. Very fast.

So far I like everything I'm experiencing with ii especially the 2% interest they pay on cash balances in the SIPP. It appears they pay this weekly although I may just have caught the payment for a month after the first week of my SIPP paid on 24th March.

abrdn should benefit richly from the ii arm.

I didn't realise II were using a different SIPP platform. It seems significantly cheaper than than AJ Bell, which is a bummer as didn't realise until recently. I will be switching to II when they make some cash offers, which have just expired.

If AJ Bell is losing market share to ii that must be good for our investment.

ali47fish: whilst I'm also questioning the relevance I can help somewhat by saying that ii (Interactive Investor) is an invesment company/platform that is wholly owned by abrdn (formerly Aberdeen/Standard Life).

Aberdeen split from Standard Life and then bought ii.

Standard Life was bought by Phoenix Group plc.

It's an incestuous industry.

I thought I'd post on here about my recent experience with Interactive Investor.

I moved my pension from Standard Life to ii recently, and ii have run a promotion wherein you get six months free platform for the SIPP - saving me £12.99 a month - and a cashback based upon the value transferred in to the ii SIPP.

One week after the move and the £300 promo payout from ii is in my bank account.

This speed, coupled with the responsiveness from ii to my queries has greatly impressed me. The comparison between the disinterest shown to me by Standard Life after 46 years of investing with them and the interest shown by ii after just over one week of investing with them is startling.

Well Done ii.

Not being able to sleep have been doing some calculations looking at the machinations in the share prices on Monday 20 just gone

Have had to add ABDN to the quartet of AV. LGEN MNG PHNX namely that they all coalesced at the bottom of the fall at around 08 30 am

Abdn fell to 190 level
Aviva to 383
Lgen to 213
Mng to 169
Phnx to 535

Over these next few days they look like they are tracking eac other

Ex dividend coming up for Abdn Aviva and Phnx on 30 Mng X div has passed and still another month until Lgen goes so will go again after 30 if money still available

So the quartet has become a quintet

Will be interesting as to how it pans out
