Skinny: when I was a programmer I wasn't spotty. Mind you, I had a beard and glasses. I guess they are just younger these days :-)

Whatever happened to a user driven RFC - not some spotty programmer playing around.

On the ii "improvements" I am not happy. I've asked for the classic view back.

MCunliffe1, it's simple, bank IT deps have funding that's "use it or lose it". So you have continuous R&D, sometimes said developments are not even shipped.

I've no experience of ii lately so I cannot comment specifically. However, generally, there is far too much 'improving' of existing websites. You get familiar with a specific interface with a bank, an investment platform, even with your energy supplier and then, for no good reason, they've changed things.

Often it is the layout or colour - or even the font. Sometimes it's more substantial.
Why?

I believe it's the I.T. boss/team who need to justify their existance. I'd argue that if they believe the new version to be better why the hell didn't they get it right in the first instance?

Well the new ii interface is a load of beep - takes much longer to place a trade. There may well be an outflow of users.

Dividends are my reason d etre and until I know that they will maintain and pay the dividend will continue to avoid

I am still awaiting fuller explanation as to departure of CFO and why.

In light of debacle at direct line am staying out of insurance and investment co s

Not a lot left to my jaundiced bear eyes so staying in cash with just the odd foray.

War chest starting to accumulate nicely

Good luck whatever your view

I think Linton was talking about the lack of automatic executions. I had an order in on a share for over 1 hour that should have been executed. I wasn't and then the price moved against me. Not happy I can tell you

If you ever want to lose money, follow the MotleyFool, better to do the reverse of each recommendation - they are actually worse than the questor column in the telegraph ( loss guaranteed );

She's only been in the post 3+ years. Did she receive the £750,000 Golden Hello in spite of the investor revolt? Will she be given a Golden Goodbye?

Merry Christmas to all and thankyou CWA1 for this (and other) threads.

* ABRDN: Abrdn Plc's ABD.L finance boss Stephanie Bruce
will leave the company, the investment firm said on Thursday,
without providing a timeline for her departure. The departure is
coming at a time the firm seeks to boost returns amid market
turbulence that has dented its performance

over all income at retirement income should be related to a state pension as is in australia which i agree with as we have people in this country on massive pensions many for working in public arena who dont need the basic pension..

All governments are pretty much the same these days, finding ways to tax hard workers , success and savers. Those that want to do nothing are increasing in numbers and income as result. I pushed all my portfolio in the tax free ISA. Now if they decide to tax this then I’m throwing in the towel and moving out !
