Jubber...As already clarified the share awards in terms of bonus to the execs are NOT based on share price. It's actually very rare for execs to be rewarded on share price performance. The calculation of their bonuses is described at length, including the metrics used, in the annual accounts

It begs the question who does remove the posts if not the moderatorss

My apologies if I have misconstrued

As to award of shares my understanding is and was that these are awarded if the share price is at a certain level agreed by the BOD.

It is 12 months since the deal to acquire II was announced and today Aviva is the only Insurer/Investment vehicle that has emerged relatively unscathed

But Abdn s performance has been woeful

Any thoughts as to when next update as to return of the "share capital" will be made or as is more likely will continue to be frittered away.

Good luck I have my level and will stick with my bearish mien

CWA1,
It is possible to set up a thread that allows the owner to moderate and ban.

I've noticed some Short positions increasing so I'd suspect that some IIs are adding to their positions following the artificial buyback support.

Just to be clear, I SAY I am the moderator-but I may have bigged up my status somewhat-I am the "thread owner" and try, where I can, to make sure that only relevant, reasonably polite stuff is posted here...

Also to be clear: I HAVE NEVER REMOVED ANY POST FROM THIS THREAD, I simply do NOT have the authority to do that on ADVFN :-/

As for the serial down ticker-I don't know about that-some folk must have pretty sad lives to down tick EVERY post whether they be good, bad or indifferent. All I can say is it isn't me and I wish they wouldn't-but the easiest thing to do is ignore them.

Now, back to ABDN chat please ;-)

Jubber...exec bonuses are not measured on share price. It's all in the annual accounts as to how they are awarded a bonus. You can make your own mind up as to how stringent those measure were / are but share price ain't one of them.

Yes they appear when I look at my name and posted thereunder but disappear from the thread I post them on

Any way thanks for all the input

I feel I ve taken up enough of everybodys time so good luck whatever your view

Good weekend

I hope not as I only recently got back in!!

Have picked some more up today and don't have many but thought it worth the risk based on expected divi and re entry etc. Wider market weakness / recent good run would be my take on things right now.

jubberjim: Apologies if this sounds a little too simple but are you certain they HAVE been posted? About 5-6 days ago I was busy typing some response on one of the threads I post upon (PHNX I think) and then got distracted and taken away from my PC.
A short while later, checking emails and I saw a link to PHNX so opened it and realised my post wasn't there. I'd failed to hit the Post Reply button on the other tab. Did so then and it appeared correctly although after two other posts had been made by others in the intervening time.

Jim. The mod can’t remove posts that have already been posted, only ban the poster from the thread (unless he’s a premium subscriber).

The point was labouring to make is that when I post what I think ? Are pertinent points and try to take the sting out of my sometimes caustic but always polite posts they are removed and I fail to understand why

The points I try to make are my opinions are as valid as your good selves

So please bear that in mind

I have stated I am a bit of a luddite in matters financial so ebtda and the like mean nothing to me

I appreciate the time the moderators spend at this sometimes thankless task but I would like them to have a thought sometimes

Have a good weekend all

I was a bit puzzled by jubberjim's comment. I hadn't appreciated you were the mod. CWA1 - but appreciate you confirming such now.

I originally asked for the 'marker-downer' to have the courage to either own-up or stop the nonsense. Wiser heads advised me to simply ignore the person(s).

If a post has two down marks then it may be worth heeding. The consistency of the person's actions has the effect of rendering their action pointless.

Re. share buy-backs I hope the company ceases such activity now it's finished its second tranche. I suspect I'll be disappointed.

Does the moderator even read the posts before making a judgement

I do try and be civil but whoever it it's getting very tedious

I'm the moderator of this board but, unfortunately, I don't understand the point your trying to make about reading posts before making a judgement-I assure you I read them all(though I don't necessarily agree/understand/comment upon them)! And WHAt is getting very tedious?

I'm afraid I'm confused and don't understand your comments at all.

My own personal buyback will start at 167 level but expecting more largesse from company at expense of loyal shareholders

I have money available and lots and lots of time

Good luck everyone

Lots of knowledgeable contributors on this board but I struggle with terms other than dividends and return

Announcement this morning...

Share Repurchase Programme

The Company is pleased to confirm the completion of the second GBP150m phase of its GBP300m share repurchase programme undertaken during 2022. Over the course of this programme, c179m shares have been acquired.

The Company's capital resources are strong which will enable us to continue to invest in the business, support the dividend policy and return capital to shareholders. With our disciplined approach to allocating capital to deliver shareholder returns, we will continue to return capital in excess of business needs as further stake sales are realised.

I would treat this share very cautiously

Still waiting on "return" to shareholders
My question would be when and in what form ?

Share buybacks do not do it for me but might augment bonuses paid to the BOD on level of share price achieved.
Think my sell at 215 few weeks ago could be the cherry on my sadly deflated cake !

Good luck shareholders expect another buyback announcement anon .
This one is strictly for the birds!

Clearly the two year down trend has been decisively broken to the upside, as those with short positions close them out. My spies at the top floor of George Street report an atmosphere somewhat akin to euphoria, with Bird having been seen by all dancing on his desk. However, who knows what he will do next? Caution is warranted.

A Question:

Would the person constantly marking reasonable posts DOWNWARDS care to have the guts to own up?

Or grow up.

I got back in late today.

A rebound to today's high would be good along with a dividend payment in time and now it's back in the FT100 I don't think that's too much to ask.

Good luck all 👍🏻

If John Lewis and Abdn want to ensure the success of this (joint venture ) they have to make sure that a Waitrose store is in the blueprint

Without that it is doomed to a unenviable end so I hope the woke apologists bear that in mind before committing any further largesse at the shareholders expense.

The money will come from institutional clients. The JV is essentially the vehicle to hold the assets (and the cash) and abrdn will provide the asset management expertise and charge accordingly. So effectively this will add up to £0.5 AUM.
