09/8/2004 12:03 | This Morning, The HSI was up the Nikkei had recovered and was heading up. The NAS, S&P & DOW Futures were (and still are)all looking up... perhaps about to disregard the US Jobs report. Then..One of ADVFN's Competitors L2 data feed did not work till around 10AM.. Perhaps a hundred Thousand traders could not see what was happening... On very thin volumes... we had a drop in share prices. The data feed has now been restored.. there are bargains to be had.. Perhaps those people buying in will for a rally of shorters closing positions! The FTSE is already picking up!! | rob mack
09/8/2004 10:59 | If Satander successful - this is a taste of things to come!!! Abbey National 574 down 4 15 pct of dividend would be withheld under Spanish law; Teather 'sell' | a77
09/8/2004 09:37 | It looks like nothing is going to happen until next month, as a lot of people on vacation now. In the mean time the price drops. | a77
08/8/2004 20:10 | Apparently the odds being quoted on SCH are 5-1 on but the FT had a piece suggesting that SCH could increase its offer or the cash element within it either to dissuade HBOS from making a bid or in reply to one. Lots of guesswork so who knows what the price is going to do. | raxzi
08/8/2004 10:29 | Reported coverage today in S. Times, Telegraph, the Mail and Sky news. S. Telegraph goes into detail about the likelihood of a bid from HBOS. S.Mail says that Lloyds TSB appointing Deutsche Bank to advise it on a bid. Sky news quoted as saying the bidding will push the price above £9bn (the £6 level breached briefly on friday). Expectations for the morning share price...? | impecunious
06/8/2004 11:34 | Is Oil being offloaded? If you cant see the volume bars, click on the chart. a box with parameters will appear. Select the OSC box. You can view on a 10 sec, 1 min, 10min You have the big surge up 1st thing this am.. then down.. up down... etc., Look at the Volume of the Up Bars and the down bars. Volume is higher for down bars. Perhaps the sellers are supporting the price to feed the crowd!! Hopefully people will not get suckered in to buying!.. I don't suggest shorting either as the sellers will buy to support the price while they offload! Nas, Dow & S&P Futures still looking up.... Perhaps they know something we don't | rob mack
06/8/2004 11:13 | HBOS has to research the benefits and get clearance. The former costs more than the latter. It makes sense for HBOS to get the OK before it spends time and effort on a full look-see. You do have to ask yourself how anyone knows about a decision that is unlikely to have been taken so soon (by the competition authorities) so the best that can be said is that it is an informed guess. Should Citigroup bid for Barclays (is that realistic?) then one favourite bidder vanishes and all bets rest with HBOS or the 560p approx coming from SCH. Lastly what would HBOS bid? It doesn't need to go too high to either knock SCH out of the race or to draw an improved offer so that it can see where to go from there. There's a large element of gamble, the bet being 25p approx for a potential return of ?? You will have figured this out for yourselves so please excuse my trying to teach granny to suck eggs. PS final thought. Supposing the gossips have got it wrong and the bid coming from the States is for ANL? | raxzi
06/8/2004 09:04 | If dealers know about something which is going to be anounced on Monday morning then they only got today to react and it will be obvious from the price movement Just my thoughts. | thunders
06/8/2004 08:50 | www.merger.com report that HBOS is going to be given greenlight by UK competition authorities to bid for Abbey. | grahamburn
06/8/2004 08:29 | Whats happened? Sudden reversal of trend, I see no news? | fouroaks
05/8/2004 12:44 | Hope this is informed buying - maybe someone's seen Fred Goodwin at the Abbey cashpoint! | broadwood
05/8/2004 11:16 | price rising | dm1
05/8/2004 11:07 | Interest up .25% to 4.75% | a77
05/8/2004 09:58 | No chance of Barclays being cleared. The hope must rest with an announcement from the States. If the rise has any bearing it suggests this would be before the weekend. | raxzi
05/8/2004 09:05 | Deceided to take a another profit sold 584p - probably will be a US Bid and if the opportunity presents I will happily buy back | bigface
