Posted at 12/12/2004 11:23 by tulk Could some one explain what all these Sanstanders below have to do with the one Sanstander which bought ANL recently" Webcast Alert: Banco Santander- Chile Presentation at Informed Investors Financial Services/REIT Virtual Forum to be Webcast on Dec. 9, 2004, 11:30 am ET Fri, Dec 3 - Business Wire Banco Santander-Chile Earnings Call scheduled for 2:00 pm ET today Fri, Oct 29 - CCBN Banco Santander Santiago Announces Results For The Third Quarter 2004 Fri, Oct 29 - PR Newswire Webcast Alert: Banco Santander-Santiago Announces Third Quarter 2004 Earnings Conference Call Fri, Oct 29 - PR Newswire " They seem to be very active... I saw on yahoo SAN (NYSE) traded last at 30.29 up 2.61%, which mean it reachs the peak of Feb 2004, Avearage Vol is high, possible a breakout. I have trade my ANLs, in for SANs share, does it mean that my share bloom? If it is not how do I get the SAN on Spanish morket? Do you intend to setup a page to follow how Spain's SAN develop? Is someone else in the same boot: still hold and count on continous success of this Sanstander bank? It was a chaos recently? what do you think now, would you continue to hold or would you wait for the special div and sell? |
Posted at 12/11/2004 14:46 by dvda Anyone holding ANL shares at the end of today will have them replaced with Santander shares on a 1 for 1 basis. The current price of SAN is 8.86 euros, so about £6.20. That's a drop of c. 30p on today's price, but you get that back via the 31p dividend. How the SAN share price reacts next week is another matter, but I can't see it moving much either way as everyone knows this takeover is happening. Any +ve/-ve sentiment should already be in the price. |
Posted at 05/11/2004 18:27 by pvb Well I've decided to hold and see how it goes. The ANL shareprice has risen significantly recently and there is also the 31p dividend.pvb |
Posted at 29/10/2004 14:32 by pvb My understanding is ANL shares are withdrawn from CREST on Friday 12 November, new Banco Santander shares issued on Monday 15 November. You get the special dividend of 25p + 6p = 31p on Tuesday 14 December. The ordinary ANL interim dividend of 8.33p was paid on Monday 4 October. I only hold the shares in a PEP (ie a nominee account) so I assume the tax is handled by the nominee. I don't know the details. pvb |
Posted at 01/10/2004 10:30 by lauders My ADSL is unavailable, so am paying by the minute and cannot go through all the posts on the BB, so would appreciate it if anyone is willing/able to answer the following qustions:1) Is it worth holding a small quantity (230 odd) of ANL shares after the 11th November if I am not a UK resident? I see that the offer to sell small quantities of shares without deducting costs is for UK residents only. 2) Is it better to sell the shares before the 11th November and just biting the bullet. 3) I haven't seen anything re: the Alternative Dividend Plan that I have been using to build-up my ANL position with since it was introduced. Bought 200 shares when listed on the stock exchange back in July 1989. Enjoyed the dividends and recouped all my small original investment a while back. I don't think Banco Santander will continue this service. 4) I note that if you sell the new Banco Santander shares holders will have to file a Spanish tax return. See section 19 of Part 3 of the Scheme Document that shareholders should have received. What a hassle for a small holding. Is it worth it? I would be very interested to know what other overseas holders (not ordinarily resident in the UK holders) are planning to do and any reasons for their actions. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide. I will look into the BB later to see if anyone has been kind enough to reply and give their opinion. Cheers and best wishes to all. |
Posted at 25/9/2004 10:45 by xjks Subject to the shareholder vote:If you hold ANL shares at the close of business on the 11 nov 04 you will receive 1 Santander share and the 31p div (to be paid on the 14 Dec 04 ?) for each ANL share. ANL shares will be delisted on the 12 nov 04. |
Posted at 19/9/2004 21:32 by wendsworth I sold my remaining holding on the HBOS no interest statement.Have been in ANL since May and walked away with five figures . For what its worth have invested in Sainsburys .....everyone needs food, there is consolidation and US interest in the sector and Sainsburys looks just like ANL ....'suffering from previous inept management'. My view is ....either the current directors turn it round in six months or the bid will come .Either way the share price will rise ! This is my last ANL posting . If any of you fancy Sainsburys ...see you on that BB!!!! |
Posted at 02/8/2004 13:39 by dvda SCH bid + divis is only worth £5.50 at the moment, so does not really support this price. Another bidder may well appear, but will they bid more than the current share price of c. £5.80? Given the level of the SCH bid, they clearly have no need to offer anything approaching the £6.50 mark, so why wouldn’t they start off in the sub £6 area? In fact they don’t even need to offer more than SCH – they could make their bid more attractive by including a larger cash element. As an example, what if Lloyds came in with an initial bid of £1.50 + 1 share = £5.60? This is more than the current SCH bid, it has a greater cash element and the shares are UK based. Changing topics slightly, has anyone given any thought to the divis that Abbey will be paying. They will be paying: A special dividend of 25p. A 6p dividend differential. Doesn’t anyone find it slightly odd that part of the value of the bid is coming from Abbey itself? What in fact are these two divis, and wouldn’t they be payable to shareholders in due course anyway? Is one connected to the promised return of excess funds following the disposal of PBU assets? Is the other connected to the normal dividend that will not now be paid due to the takeover i.e. a part of the 16.6p final div to give a total of 25p? I might be totally wrong concerning the two divis to be paid, but if their value was, in some part, due to shareholders regardless, this reduces the real value of the SCH bid even further. Does |
