Noticed Acal mentioned in their statement today that the softness in the q 30 June has continued in the electromechanical component side of their business, same as ABU's recent update. Does make u worry if the economy slowed sig in the coming months how adverse an effect this would have on margins, profits. Problem with ABU they r in the main just a bog standard box shifter where as Acal, Prem F., Electrocomponents also have higher margin strings to their bows which probably explains their higher p/e ratings. That said if the econ doesn't deteriorate ABU does look cheap.

Thanx Jimi - my sentiments as regards the strong cashflow, 16p per share forecast & 8% div. ABU has been hammered down because short term prospects r uncertain so could look at this as an opp to load up. There may well be further test of lows so i will watch with view to average down in the coming months.

Thanks Jimi, it's a nicely put bull case. Looks like I may have been too greedy waiting for 75p but even if this is going to be a significant turn I would expect a retest of lows to offer a second buying/adding opportunity. Hopefully it'll come before I go on holiday next month.

LOL. I meant that the price had come down from 92p to 88p. That's a drop of more than 4%.

Yes. Looks like the market makers have won the day yet again. Price back down, as I thought. Seen it so many times before...

This stock has the feeling of been dangled like a worm on a hook at the mercy of the fluctuations of the stockmarket at the mo. GOOD LUCK ALL.

cyber - it was ten minutes to the close and I took 2d by his word.

Onwards and upwards.

2d - I am slightly vexed but I'm not too bugged about the money. I wrote this post today because I wanted to show how your irresponsible post added 'white noise' to a normally sound thread.

simon, did you look at the fianncial statements ? it was pretty obvious from there that ABU wouldnt need a right issue or fund raising. Why would a company generating c.16p/share cash flow need a rights issue ?

bletherer - I only jumped in for a quickie. I think I reacted so rapidly because the market was about to close and I did not want to be holding ABU if a 'rights issue' was imminent - the price could have been hammered in the morning.

simon - fair comment, i take the guilt trip on board although i'm not totally convinced u are being totally upfront with me. I did retract the offending post kind of within 4 mins (335 & 337) & then u accepted my unreserving apology (350) without any hint i influenced your thinking resulting in a trading loss & now after the Lord Mayor's show u suggest i did. Apologies again.

nothing to do with mm's/volume was actually relatively low yesterday/with interest cover at 5x the idea of a rights issues is pure nonsense..mkt was a buyer at close yesterday. To me looked like shorting from a US investor??

2d - just for future reference, yesterday I bought 5000 at 80p and then went for a walk. I returned to read your 'rights issue' post, I sold immediately. I took a loss. So today as expected the tree shake has been reversed. At an opportunity cost. I thought it best to give you this insight so that you refrain from bogus posting.

Good fortune.
