Bitcoin And Crypto Brace For A European Central Bank Bombshell

KR1 KVS -

"The economic devastation of Covid-19 and collapse of old systems has meant fast tracking any innovative technology that can help GDP growth and digital currencies and stablecoins fit perfectly into this narrative," said Keld van Schreven, managing director and co-founder of digital asset investment company KR1.

"This is an unstoppable trend," said Nick Jones, the chief executive of Edinburgh-based bitcoin and cryptocurrency wallet and payments platform Zumo. "The key to the success of CBDCs is that they exist on the public blockchain so that there is interoperability between CBDCs and the potential to revolutionise cross border transactions isn't lost."

Slicethepie - Yes, the David Stevenson article was very interesting, hopefully will create some more interest and coverage of KR1 as we move into 2021 and beyond.

Taking 15% of any gain is pretty standard for this type of vehicle and given they don't pay themselves a lot I am happy. The only extra transparency would be to see the pool and how it decided. I suspect it would be on a pro rata basis ie they would not be able to pick and choose. Had thought the David Stevenson article might have generated some interest.

Having said that - if the NAV hits what I think it could in the next 18-24 months, and we shareholders lose 15% of the gains to the bonus pool, I would still expect the shares to be trading at MANY multiples of the current share price.

What do you think the NAV could reach?

Re the recent announcement of the sale of Polkadot tokens - that was the first time I have been aware of the potential effect of the bonus scheme in place for the KR1 team.About 240,000 Polkadot tokens have been given to the bonus scheme, that seems quite generous!!I guess they have to incentivise people to perform and also to retain them, and a share of capital appreciation is the recognised way to do this. But I'd be happier if there was an announcement or shareholder communication to advise which other holdings are reduced in a similar way as a result of the bonus schemes in place. Without a proper understanding of this, it's pretty pointless trying to accurately value the portfolio ourselves.Having said that - if the NAV hits what I think it could in the next 18-24 months, and we shareholders lose 15% of the gains to the bonus pool, I would still expect the shares to be trading at MANY multiples of the current share price.I'd be interested to see what others think of the bonus scheme...... as I say, I see it as a recognised way of rewarding effort, but more transparency would be good.FQS

Posted on the other Kr1 board....Positive mainstream article by someone worth following for alternative investment David Stevenson "...Portfolio investments include some wonderful names such as Moonbeam blockchain, and the Cosmos Network but the key investment is in Polkadot and its tokens, which have already made the business a handsome profit. The shares had been trading around the 6p mark but have recently bumped up to around 13p as Bitcoin prices have started rallying. I’ve started buying a few as a long term hedge against my cynicism. I have no idea whether this venture capital investor will double or treble in value or be worth nothing in a few years’ time but I’d wager that blockchain and decentralised finance isn’t going away." hTTps://citywire.co.uk/funds-insider/news/david-stevenson-im-hedging-my-cynicism-with-a-crypto-bet/a1419498

It's not exciting making money!I think kr1 are in a enviable position that only the odd fund gets into ie they are now generating enough income to continue to reinvest, pay operating costs and more without selling holdings. This means that at some stage they will find that buying their own shares offers a better return than new ideas. There are very few funds who ever get into this position and in the main it is because a big holding gets bought out at a large premium.

C,Mon Guy,s ,Thought a bit of exiting chatter would be generated by todays monumental moves ??
Firstly we have -

Chairman Powell constantly talks about “costs and benefits” of a CBDC. It is a sober analysis that we don’t see from other central bankers. They are full steam ahead, spending millions on research and testing, convinced a CBDC is a viable new tool.

With Polkadot & Chain X in the news today

ChainX created a bridge incorporating Bitcoin’s lightning nodes into its network, allowing users to deposit BTC and use it in any Polkadot project.

Dan Morehead, founder of Menlo Park, California-based Pantera Capital Management concluded: "Polkadot is only trading at 10% of the value of Ethereum. And our theory is that it has a much higher than 10% chance of being a competitor to Ethereum.

Just
Cant disagree with anything above ,As it goes I had a discussion on twitter dm this morning on that very subject ( liquidity and consequences of the sector being viewed by the general investing community as a ponzi or a bubble ) )with MP of Coinsilium ,For anyone interested take a gander at this Newsnight discussion

youtu.be/GP1xVn6AFyc

from over 3 years ago , The attitude of Dan Mcrum is very much prevalent today and goes a long way to explain KR1 is trading at a large discount to NAV
All holding KR1 will have a degree of understanding @ there worth ,( for me personally there Management caliber is second to none in a budding sector with exponential growth ahead ) but not all investors share our confidence or understanding ,This is the rat in the kitchen that can give rise to derailing the growth of DeFi and Crypto coupled with draconian restrictions
Todays announcement from Coinsilium demonstrates why sometimes drastic action is needed ,When you constantly look in the mirror noticing that the great big Zit on your nose wont go away , Drastic action is needed to eradicate the problem

Hi BOTAK, I may have missed this afternoon but there is so little liquidity in KR1 that a minimal sale can lower the bid price, as you know.
Today only saw 3 prints and around 50k sold.

My worry with regards to the valuation of holdings versus the valuation of the company is simply that the word 'Crypto' still scares many, and couple that with the volatility that brings I can see the shares sitting at a discount for some time.

The POS will help if it proves to be consistent and higher than average returns which I fully expect it to be.

I am patient. I have held for a number of years so will continue.

Not sure where you get -

George is not rushing to get off of Aquis simply as he does not need to raise further funds ??
That is wishful thinking

In the Zac Mir podcast George was asked the question of expanding the pf ,His reply was something like *e will review in the future whether we raise funds to expand*
Totally agree on the current share price level being irrelevant, However I much prefer to see Blue than Red ,especially when the crypto mc trajectory is heading north
The next RNS with revenue generated from POS might be the catalyst for next leg up to the 20p,s

It is only a sell off if you look at the chart on a short term basis BOTAK?

1st Sept to close today and the share price has fallen from 17.5 to 13.25p

From 22nd July the share price has risen from 6p to 13.25p - up over 100%

George is not rushing to get off of Aquis simply as he does not need to raise further funds and thus the share price is a touch irrelevant at this time.

Give it two years and that changes.

Polkadot Is The New Ethereum Killer, Bloomberg Says

Development On Polkadot Increasing Sharply

Though Polkadot continues to have fewer developers than Ethereum and Bitcoin, a new report indicates that developer activity has reduced at ETH and BTC and increased by over 44% at Polkadot. The report takes into account developments in the second quarter of 2020:

“Polkadot (+44%) and Cosmos (+15%) saw substantial developer activity growth. This increase is likely due to protocols abandoning proprietary chains in favor of battle-tested solutions in a post-COVID market with a reduced R&D budget. Polkadot, in particular, launched its main net at the end of May 2020, garnering increased interest from external developers.

Excellent news on the partial disposal, NAV is being built all the time & as has been said before, with no requirement for further funding the 130m shares in issue will gradually be bought up and in a few years should be as rare as hens teeth...
