A number of interesting and well informed posts today. As many of you would possibly agree, Marcus was brought in by major shareholders to shake things up. He makes it clear in rare appearances and the presentation on the Stratex web site that he aims to create shareholder value. So why the total silence, was his remit to sell Stratex? Imho, that is the scenario that would satisfy most of the questions being asked here.Now lets move on to the selling price. No debt, £10m+ a year from Altintepe once the mine costs are paid, a share in Goldstone, Tembo and the very promising Thani-Stratex project, a share in Muratdere copper play etc etc.... in combination imho probably worth in excess of £50m but lets say half that for a quick sale so £25m divided by 500m shares gives us 5p a share. Who on this thread would turn their nose up at that after languishing around 2p for so long?

I'm not really excusing Stratex, just looking to rationalise the situation as I don't believe there is any corporate activity that could explain things. (Neither do I subscribe to any theories about bad relations with Bahar which was a point made earlier.)

Announcements about Goldstone are all about Emma trying to raise more money at the moment.

I don't think maternity leave is the same thing as a holiday, although I've never been on maternity leave so I can't speak from personal experience.

C'mon Blobby you don't really think STI are excused from releasing important rns information because a member of staff is on maternity leave. Even the smallest private companies are obliged to introduce maternity cover, let alone a public listed company that has many millions of pounds worth of investors money invested in it.

This comment has been made many times by Stratex about Pandora (when they owned it).

David Hall and Christopher Hall are not related. When they were both directors of Stratex this was made clear several times. In my view David Hall is a respected geologist but seems to have made at least one bad call e.g. spending so much on Blackrock.

I think the lack of communication has a lot to do with Claire Bay being on maternity leave. As she was due back in March we may see better communications starting shortly.

David Hall was the STI director who bet several million of shareholders' cash in East Africa and lost. After that he was moved into the Thani JV.

Just wish the directors had the energy and passion shown by BB posters.

Looking more and more like a binary bet here, either:
STI are being held over a barrel at Altintepe and it is going to be a legal battle whilst STI's cash dwindles or
A sale is being negotiated along with proposals for allocation of the cash for new production under STI's control

As a minority owner, a bit of both probably.

Yes GP it did surprise me that third party investment was sought last year rather than Thani just stumping up extra investment which would have been pocket change to them. Therefore if they're not going to buy us up and gain our listing, I think if possible we should be increasing our stake in TS. But a TS buy-out of STI seems more logical, especially if they can gain Altintepe to fund all exploration across Egyptian,Djibouti and Ethiopian licenses.

No question one of the strangest plays in the sector at the moment.

One recalls how Bob forgot even to mention Oksut in an interview as though it was in the past even as a drilling campaign concluded... next week it was sold. Silence again here may indicate something similar.

I imagine they have some poor work experience kid frantically copy, pasting and generally fiddling with last years annual report. Change the year, move some of the numbers around, knock a few % off the value of the projects again and Bob's your non-executive uncle.

I do hope that if we are to see a return very soon from Altintepe, either by way of gold sale income or outright sale that some of the proceeds will be used to increase our holding in TS.
