01/5/2008 10:32 | exile. Totally agree. If SIL can start running attractive routes from LTN in partnership with other airlines then their market share would increase. I flew into LHR this morning from Saudi and it's just a mess - and even worse outbound! I think the market for low cost bus travel is there; it's just a case of getting the product offering optimised... Maybe they need an Irishman in charge?! | chris pee
01/5/2008 08:28 | other carriers with middle east hubs will want to keep all the traffic and would not like to help SIL. You need regular flights into a Hub | i am myself2
01/5/2008 07:24 | Chris Pee ... I think Silverjet should try and tie up with other carriers that operate from the Middle East Hubs to Asia and perhaps Australia. This imo would increase their load factor considerably. I hate Gatwick and Heathrow. They are a National disgrace, I dread flying from either. You have to aim to arrive half a day early for your flight to allow for traffic jams or delays to the rail time table. I find it stressful. I have been known to fly from BHX to AMS to connect to Asia and found it was actually quicker when taking in to account the trip to the airport. Once in the ME the luggage allowance even with an economy ticket is 30kg as opposed to 20kg on most airlines flying from London. Luton is a fantastic Airport and the current programme of works being completed on the M1 link road etc will improve the facility further. Now, if only I could book from Luton to Singapore, Bangkok, KL... | exile
01/5/2008 01:06 | granville - what people say on this board has no bearing on how the company does. Ok, i will tell you the best chance for this company in my honest opinion. take them of their routes because this current model ain't working, and instead try and charter them out. target markets football clubs the rich and famous big business i am sure clubs like manchester united would use a service like this, when playing in europe. well they gotta try something else - or they are finished. I can't believe New york was picked, that market is cut throat. i will tell you what else is amazing, the amount of money that has now been spent, you could have probably had a modern plane by now, more effiecient. | tricky1992000
30/4/2008 22:48 | Isn't it amazing to find a couple of posters on here with no holdings so intent to see this company fail and wishing for investors to lose money. I wonder who they work for or is it one person using different alias's? (my guess). These people are nothing but scum. | granville2
30/4/2008 22:35 | Lol! No surprise here then: Shares in business-class only airline Silverjet (SIL) soared 2.5p to 17p after it announced an un-named investor from the United Arab Emirates has flown to the company's aid. However, the news did nothing to impress broker Daniel Stewart: "Today's news does not change anything about Silverjet's economic fundamentals; it just confirms how bad they are and means that they will have more time to continue making losses." | drewz
30/4/2008 17:17 | nice percentage rise in share price from here | mike24
30/4/2008 16:33 | Why do some of you still trust what Mr Hunt reports. each new invester was told his money would go on expansion but has been burned running the current 3 planes. He said the firm would be cashflow pos in the last 4 months of the year - it was not, then profitable and cash generating in march - failed again. Then SIL would get 2 more planes in march - failed again. I think it is likly that the new money will not turn up. I could be wrong as Mr Hunt has seperated fools from money before. £12.7million will be gone in 4 months if not sooner. | i am myself2
30/4/2008 16:30 | Hi, Ive held SIL since the end of 07 at around 40p. I also work in the airline industry. IMO, the Middle East market is an excellent prospect for SIL at the moment, with high demand for business class travel between London and Middle East hubs. The UAE also have a LOT of money to invest and are active in acquiring interests in aviation assets (airlines and maintenance providers). There is still a need for caution though, as $100M does not go far when you're operating 19 year old 767-200 aircraft(!) and fuel is at an all time high. I think the market will respond more favourably to this news when April's figures are released. If SIL can at least break even and show and increase in bookings since EOS folded, the share price will rise. All in MHO and good luck to all holders. | chris pee

30/4/2008 15:18 | Well it seems someone is prepared to invest 100,000,000 dollars in this business model. I think your arguments lose credibility when you come out with statements like " I would consider anyone who booked with the airline in the next week a fool." You have also in the past expressed your wish that investors lose their stake. You have and do use emotive language in your postings which leads many of us to question your motives. You seem to have an fanatical desire to see this company fail. | generalmac2
30/4/2008 14:57 | I see even SILs big backers will now be flying with BA! The press is full of news about EOS going under and the problems of silverjet. I can see people only booking with Big airlines from now onwards. | i am myself2
30/4/2008 14:51 | GMac2 - The business case does not work as the target market needs a lower price than would support a profitable airline. The last 15 people to book may cover more than their cost but the 50 before will not. It is very stange that the possible investor does not wish to be named. If he buys 28% of the shares than he would have to be named. That implies he is taking a look but could walk away. Todays working capital update did not update us as to how little cash was remaining. It did sound like it would stop flying soon if money was not raised. I would consider anyone who booked with the airline in the next week a fool. | i am myself2
30/4/2008 14:44 | Thanks you. I will be right on to it. | generalmac2
30/4/2008 14:07 | Hi GeneralMac - from the BA website, the ad on the main page saying "Club Europe holiday fares" takes you to the offer Can fly to NY in July, August, from £1099. Upgrades to First from £499 per leg.NY in Sept, Oct, Nove and Dec is from £1399 Other US prices are a bit more, for example LA is £1399 in July and Aug Also, it's £20 cheaper if you are a BA member and logged in when you book | the analyst
30/4/2008 13:45 | Both virgin and ba appear to have deals on over summer and christmas at around £1300 for Upper/Club. | doyouwantfries
30/4/2008 13:23 | the analyst Could you let me know how to find that deal. The best I can find is £3176 return Business Class and about £ 7000 First. I would certainly like to use BA First Class at that price. I need to book by end of next week. Please let me know. | generalmac2
30/4/2008 12:53 | Looking for some flights right now - BA Business Class is £1079 return to NY and can upgrade to First Class for an extra £998. So total price is £2077 for First Class. Flies from Heathrow, which is convenient too. The offer has been on for ages, so I wonder if this will this be affecting Silverjet? One benefit for me to book with BA is, of course, that there seems to be very very little chance of BA going bust in the near future. Can anyone tell me what insurance or guarantees Silverjet offer it's passengers? - it's worrying to book after Maxjet went bust. Didn't those passengers get left with nothing? | the analyst |
