20/5/2010 20:22 | Given recent market moves this is holding up well - this could really have tanked. This is positive IMO. I reckon the industrial and corporate spend type stocks could be where it's at the next 6 months. Conversley retail and consumer descretionaries NOT | thorpematt
14/5/2010 16:54 | I hope they arent going to buy Xplore Technologies that they partner with.It makes an iPad tablet type rugged device and on Psion's website they are asking people to comment on what applications the Apple iPad could be used for and what operating system they would prefer to see on it etc. I think if Psion are considering taking over this company then this seller may have the heads up. Maybe I am putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with five but this seems to be a management that gets over excited by all things 'new'. I am also not impressed with their little video introducing their new interactive discussion board. It as though a combination of Tony Blair and David Cameron is running Psion with some kind of obsession with modernisation. If they are planning on purchasing Xplore I hope they would please try and keep it a secret before some small share purchases over inflate the price of Xplore - its an over the counter stock that is very sensitive to small trades. If it was me I would stay away from any acquisitions as we are still in danger of a double dip recession in the UK and possibly in the USA.I think Psion needs to see how this new open source pans out first. | she-ra
14/5/2010 16:34 | diku - looking at the trades there is a persistent seller about. Very unnerving. | rathkum

29/4/2010 00:32 | diku - Ive wondered for a while if HP will enter the rugged handheld device market.I thought they would do that before entering the consumer smartphone device market with real commitment but I did suspect HP wouldnt miss this chance Palm offered as it does not have much of a presence if at all on the consumer side. One wonders if they could go for Psion for the rugged device market but also reprise the name in a PDA/Smartphone and use use it as a clearly defined business smartphone and Palm a clearly defined consumer mobile device whilst sharing operating system/software developement. I think it is a major longshot of an idea but you never know. And when you consider Palm's rapid decline companies like HP know that the fickle consumer does not get sentimental when it comes to technology brands.I think the likes of Dell,Motorola,Noka and Sony will be more concerned than they thought they would be should HP have entered this market.I know its not PCs but they are very dominant in that market. It will be interesting to see if they drop Palms OS and go for a deal with Microsoft. But HP Palm and HP Psion would be some combination. | she-ra
28/4/2010 22:54 | Well there you have it...now anybody for PON?... Hewlett-Packard to Acquire Palm for About $1.2 Billion | diku
26/4/2010 15:53 | Not sure what is going on here but the trend of late is not to buy in the morning as you will get it cheaper in the afternoon!...No Advice Intended.. | diku
25/4/2010 10:57 | rathkum - It doesnt operate in the same market as Psion.Fortunately Psion chose to leave a market where one PDA/Smartphone can make or break a company. If HP still sees value in their own consumer business I expect them at some point to snap up Palm. | she-ra
24/4/2010 12:55 | How serious in Palm as a competitor to Psion? In FT Palm, the struggling mobile phone maker, either has a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel, or it is up for sale. The problem is that potential buyers are chiefly interested in the group's WebOS operating system, and perhaps the brand. So, barring a bid that causes other interested parties to break cover, they can happily wait until the point of maximum distress. How much time then does Palm have left? In terms of debt maturity, the company has until 2014 before its $391m of outstanding debt comes due. A further $376m of preferred stock held by the largest shareholder Elevation Partners is also redeemable in that year. | rathkum
23/4/2010 19:42 | On the one hand I see a good story here of re-drawn strategy mixed with excellent costs saving and a growth market sector. I also like the Psion habit of updating the website with recent orders (and there have been some good ones of late). On the other hand I am cautious as the chart (which i use for timing only) indicates that a key moment in the share price is still pending. 80p is still a key point and today's retrace brings us back into downtrend teritory... I strongly suspect we won't fall further, but like ROK (totally differnt sector similar story and chart) I only suspect (and don't KNOW that we're close to the floor). We could be still a bit early - although better one step in front than one behind. | thorpematt
