Just found the Telegraph article that alerted me to Oriel a few years ago. At the time, Doc Kurzin was talking of Schevchenko producing 35,000 tonnes of nickel per annum to yield $350 M. p.a. and that it would take barely 6 months to repay the capex involved. This implies nickel was $10,000 a tonne at the time. Price today is over $27,000 tonnes. Hmmmmmmmmmm !

I think Earnermoon was the firm who reversed the Tikhvin plant in. They must be happy bunnies.

I think you'll start to see some value from the shevchenko asset come in finally as well this year, after production commences at Voskhod then they should be around 1.5 quid imo, obviously if nobody comes out of the blue and puts an offer on the table which I think is definite possibility and then who knows where they will go!

Coldrolled. Many thanks for the clarification. Originally bought Ori after they floated on the strength of Schevchenko alone. All this is a bonus !!!!

Sorry Superstock, I should have been more specific, Tihkvn will take up to (all furnaces commisioned) 384kt of Chrome ore from Voskhod at 44% Cr203 contant and above to produce 148kt of FerroChrome at 69-70% Cr metal content, that's where you may have got confused, the run of mine ore will be shipped at somewhere between 44-50% depending on what optimum feed grade is needed for the smelters, this still leaves another 600kt of 44% Chip, lump and fines product to be sold to other offtakers at the prevailing market price...remember than Voskhod Chrome ore will be sold at a premium to SA, Zim and Turkish ore because of the much higher Cr-Fe ratio

Hope this helps

Cheers

not too suprising when it is trying to break through the £1 barrier.I know its nonsense really but psychologically it does matter. It could fall back a bit and then retest

Coldrolled. You obviously know your Oriel far better than me so I am intrigued where you got the annual production figure for Tikh from. I was using the latest RNS update which quoted :

"The remaining two furnaces have been commissioned and are due to be fully
operational by the end of Q1, 2008. HCFeCr production capacity will then be
148,000t per annum; rising to 180,000t during 2011 as phase two of the project
comes on stream."

I therefore dont know how it can use 384 kt p.a. from Vosh. Perhaps the RNS refers to finished product tonnage rather than ore input tonnage. Perhaps you could clarify. Either way, the numbers are pretty mouthwatering v. this market cap.

Super,
Tihkvin will consume up to 384kt of Voskhod ore per annum, Voskhod produces 900kt of beneficiated product, leaving it 500kt+ to sell on the open market and this discounts any expansion at the mine, try and do the numbers again and I'll think you'll be surprised what you come up with! FerroCr spot prices now around $2/lb long term offtake agreemenst who knows, Chrome ore at the gate at Voskhod can be sold up to and above $500/t depending on Cr2O3 content
Cheers

The last Kazakhstan share I bought into was Kazakhmys (KAZ) at around £5.50 and they went up to £15 or so. So expect this one to follow suit.
