Calamity - be careful. You have spent a long time getting your profit in RTD and NSB and as you say there are a lot of small caps getting murdered at the moment.

May be best to wait a while.

If you are desperate to get back in the market have a look at Corac (CRA). Price rose today (e-mail tip??) on decent volume and is just below all time high. Not giving you any more info as that way you have to do your own research and I don't want to be responsible for any losses you may incur. I would add that if you do fancy this share then you may be wise to buy on any pull back to say 50-54ish.

Good luck what ever you decide.

Sold a few today.....31,176 to be precise...to fund a purchase of 100,000 shares in JRVS.....do I sense some cringing.....however...nothing ventured nothing gained....I am having to get proactive again after years of sitting on NSB and GBG...set my mind back to NSB about 4 years ago and picking up a few hundred K of shares at the knock down prices of yester year....hoping to do the same on a few shares now....all around there are mirads of companies having their SP's decimated....and NSB has gone the other way...so there are opportunities out there....It's just finding the right ones......don't get me wrong...I still feel this is being sold for a song....but feel now without a counter bid....all is done and dusted....so don't want to miss the boat on others.....time will tell.....so I'm now on the good ship Lollypop....sorry Jarvis.....may all who sale in her... etc........

Looking out for more opportunities.....any advice....currently looking at ALM...RGU...MDX...and maybe more GBG...but that has let me down decimating at the moment all my gains from RTD.....

Hard luck there, Tim.
While NSB should be going for nearer 50p, at least you won't be feeling as sick as that would have made you!
In spite of the carnage in small cos elsewhere which seems to be throwing up some remarkable bargains, I am happy to sit (more safely, I hope) in NSB to get the last drop of juice from this particular lemon.

Today's unexplained mover is SN. (Up 10% in two days)
Anyone else in that?

Happy, healthy and prosperous New year to all! It's also Au revoir as I sold my little lot just a couple of days after the announcement before Christmas.

Didn't seem much point in hanging on as I couldn't see a counter bid coming. and the money has been gaining interest elsewhere ever since. We had been waiting so long for a bid it seemed unlikely there would be two.

I have to say what a waste of time and effort the last 3 years have been with NSB. For a long time I had threequarters of my investment money in NSB and I think it was the share overhang that killed the share price rising. Every year they came out with good figures and were cash rich, but the price stubbonly refused to budge as into any rally there were sellers. Having reduced my holding a year ago, I finally gave up a month before the offer as the share price dropped and sold all but 10,000 just to keep an interest.

Talk about timing! How unlucky can you get! Still, not going to top myself, but damn annoyed!

Well done to all those who held on. The way my luck has gone with NSB you may well get a further bid now. LOL

Anyhow, good luck to everyone with their future investments and it's been good to chat with you.

Regards

Tim

Those who are left are a dying breed....

Has anyone been monitoring daily volumes lately? Whilst today's volume isn't massive, it is higher than I'd expect given where we are - or am I just looking for a sign of a counter-bid that just won't be there?

Casul........the author of the threads over the past years...Maxwellman..has already stated in a recent post that he will not be creating a new thread for 2008 as he has now moved on and has no further interest.......however last year ....somewhere around the start....someone found it neccessary to create another thread headed NSB 2008 that now seems applicable.......other than staying on here as we have for the past year.....we could all migrate to that thread....however other than the thread change...not much would be achieved would it....lets stay as we are...we all congreate here...well that is those that are left...

Happy New Year to you too KM. Yes re the commission, but that amounts to so little I chose to ignore it. A 1.3% discount for a few weeks wait makes me leave the investment in place, pending transferring it into some nice safe premium bonds!

Isn't it the case that if the takeover goes through we get value without any trading commission? - Hence you've got to take the additonal 0.5p plus the commission that you'd pay if you sold out now. After 3 years, what difference does a few more weeks make? Happy new year Wooly plus all other holders out there.

Thanks Webley. So the question is whether or not the interest lost by waiting until 7th Feb is worth a 0.5p per share discount. Unless holders either need the proceeds to pay off high interest debt or have a better use for the cash, I don't think it is and will wait in the (probably) forelorn hope that a higher bid will come in - because I'd kick myself if I waited over 3 years and missed the chance to make another 10%+ at the very last moment.

The RNS suggested it's done and dusted on 7 Feb - assuming it goes through on 16 Jan and 6 Feb.

Nor me. Even without a counter-bid, I think the discount to the offer price means it may be worth waiting. When are we due to receive payment assuming the vote is positive?

Looks as though there is not going to be any bidding war - pity. Has anyone had their paperwork re the vote yet?
