07/3/2004 23:40 | Johnroger, the above was my first posting on this (or any other) stock market bb. I've been out of the loop for a few years due to the lethargy of the market plus not having the capital to snap up any of those obvious bargains over the last year or so. I did stick in there with the stocks I had though and most have now recovered and some gained. Seeing as we seem to have struck a cord above, do you have any thoughts on Redstone Telecom or Mondas (I'm thinking of averaging down a bit from an historic 56p!)? | rogid
07/3/2004 22:24 | johnv ... more difficult to follow, currency conversion for dividends. Plenty of good UK companies to choose from.As it happens I have also bought ELH and CSR! | johnroger

Now cross-functional application development teams and other groups can collaborate through every stage of the design, development and delivery cycle with the confidence that all associated Microsoft documents are under the protection of Merant's powerful configuration management technology. "The collective intellectual property of cross-functional teams is often encapsulated in Microsoft Office documents, making them an incredibly important and valuable corporate asset," noted James Rogers, vice president of product marketing at Merant. "With Merant Meritage, development teams can now more effectively manage collaboration and archiving across project documentation, which allows them to control costs, mitigate risks and protect these critical assets." Merant Meritage brings the myriad business benefits of comprehensive change management to the world of cross-functional project documentation. By enabling version control, parallel review, change rollback and other critical document management capabilities from directly within the familiar and cost-effective environment of Microsoft Word 2003, Excel 2003 and PowerPoint 2003, Merant Meritage dramatically improves productivity, collaboration and communication across any project team. Merant Meritage simplifies collaboration by allowing teams to easily maintain and manage multiple versions of Word 2003, Excel 2003 and PowerPoint 2003 documents. This eliminates the traditional problems in coordinating, controlling and managing business cases, opportunity assessments, product presentations, cost plans and resource allocation spreadsheets, product requirement documents, delivery plans, feature set specifications, QA documents and a host of other materials associated with product delivery. Changes and comments in these documents can be easily tracked and incorporated, even during parallel review cycles. Team members can also choose to be proactively notified of new versions via a subscription service. Document versions are stored in a central repository, improving both asset protection and document visibility. Historical changes are tracked to streamline document editing and improve audit compliance, and documentation can even be rolled back to an earlier version with a simple command. "A key goal with the Microsoft Office System is to provide customers better visibility into business information so they can gain deeper insights, make better decisions, and take more effective action to make their businesses more productive and successful," said Simon Marks, Office product manager at Microsoft Corp. 02/12/2003 14:22 | Prospects look good (Updating with details of order from US government) LONDON (AFX) - Nasdaq-listed computer services and software group Merant PLC said it has improved second quarter earnings, and beaten stock market expectations. But the company said it would take action in the third quarter to improve its cost structure and productivity and maintained a conservative outlook on revenue in the short term. EBITA for the three months ending Oct 31, 2003, grew to 2.4 mln usd from 0.4 mln last year. The figure exceeded all independent research analysts' profit expectations for the quarter, said the company. Revenues grew 2.6 pct to 30 mln usd compared to the second quarter last year. For the second half of the current year, the company expects improvement compared to the first half in terms of available product offerings, with new versions of both Professional and Dimensions now available to the market. But, Merant said, it still feels that a conservative outlook for revenue growth is prudent in the short term, given continuing economic uncertainties. In a separate statement, the company announced that its Merant Dimensions product is now being used by the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection housed in the Department of Homeland Security. No financial details were disclosed for the deal. The software will be used for the development and management of applications within Customs and Border Protection, including those in law enforcement, finance and administration, Merant said. tf/jad | johnroger |
