Other small caps such as PYC, CNR, SAR, RLH, NTOG have had their very big rises over the past few weeks. The news due from MEQ might coincide at the right time with interest from investors/traders looking at the next big small cap riser.

Deal flow
Although investors have kept their hands in their pockets and IPOs have been on hold, Simpson and his junior markets team of seven have been busy on a number of transactions. Specialising in the lower to middle end of the junior markets, high-value deals the firm has worked on include the merger of independent IFAs Sumus and Lighthouse Group and the buy-out and delisting of Telent, a telecoms services business with revenue of over £310 million. Says Simpson, 'There is definitely more buzz about AIM, as a realistic option, than there was 12 months ago.'

Much of the work for Saffery of late has been around reversals and takeovers. 'The stock market seems to be showing at least some form of recovery, and that will always be positive in terms of businesses looking for admission. A number of companies are ready to IPO – effectively, they're beginning to queue up and wait for the markets to reopen,' comments Simpson.

Substantial interest is coming largely from overseas companies, notably those based in China, India and the US, says Simpson. The last of these may come as a surprise, given how US ventures have had a mixed experience on the exchange: ' US companies are continuing to look to AIM, where the regulatory pressures are less onerous. For these companies, it's also about getting into Europe, establishing a presence and gaining market visibility.'

Green shoots on AIM???

Retail property fund plans £250m IPO

11/06/2009 Oliver Haill

NewRiver Retail, where Peter Tom is director, seeks £250m

Further signs of 'green shoots' emerged on AIM as two investment funds, high street property investor NewRiver Retail and media-focused Critical Information Group, announced their intention to float.

If both companies complete their IPOs, on 24 and 25 June respectively, it would double the number of new issues on AIM this year, with the only previous arrivals being the February introduction of Singapore shipping play Yujin International and May's £220 million float for investment fund Max Property.

I think this weeks RNS is a coy move andrbea. Trying to keep the price as low as possible before eventually reverse takeover or acquisition is carried out. Try to please the new investors imo. Although, this weeks RNS does also confirm the possiblity into something happening now imo. The RNS also used the word 'likely' and with more than one interested party the investment could well even end up at higher than the price of 0.26p.

some have been sub-penny. from no where fml up 5000% from lows

Another example of revived investor appetite for small stocks is Frontier Mining, which focuses on the exploration and production of gold and copper in Kazakhstan. It rose a further 1¼p to 8¼p on hefty volume of 5.4million shares which represents a staggering rise of around 5,000pc since January when the stock hit a low of 0.09p. It has soared over 300pc in two weeks since raising £9million in April.

Small Talk: Aim's new chief insists the market is fit for purpose

As the number of IPOs and secondary fundraisings has dried up, many of those connected with Aim – from brokers to management teams to investors – have questioned whether Aim is fit for purpose in recent weeks. There are a lot of companies that should not be on the market, critics say, adding that some are too small, or that some management teams do not understand the requirements associated with being a listed company. Mr Stuttard rejects the idea that Aim has failed, adding that the spotlight is now on the small-cap sector to help to get economy on its feet.

Sadly, the IPO market is still closed, he says, adding it will take one new entrant to Aim to have a successful IPO, and for the shares to do well in the aftermarket, before brokers can declare the IPO market open again.

yes i certainly think even if your a medium sized company IPOs are near impossible not only because of the listing involved but investor appetite. whether people like it or not when you do an IPO especially AIM wise what generally happens to the shareprice is that it falls over a period of months to a year. now if that is coupled with the current scenario i.e. recession then imo the route to market is via a reverse takeover. delisting are another scenario which destroys shareholders and their confidence and the ability to invest.

so imho i do think shells will become more important over the coming months.

Kirstie think people are wise to him. In fact he's embarrasing himself.

Investors have already done their own research and have got in.

He did this with timestrip customvis etc etc. In fact just about every multi-bagger going.

Picked up another 25K at 0.58p. My buying finished for now with 325,000 holding and will be keen to see some coverage apperaring on sites like minesite and pro-active investors.
