08/2/2017 14:29 | Slightly O/T. I attended the Mines and money conference in December and listened to the Grant Williams presentation. It's very insight and would highly recommend everyone listens to it. Williams talks about the reaction to Donald Trump's election and joins a series of dots that may lead to the end of the petrodollar system and a new place for gold in the global monetary system. It's a must listen imo. | jimbowen30

04/2/2017 14:34 | Thanks Chip,i still have all my bullion sovs that I bought in 2006ish. If America closes the doors they may reopen their steel industry in a big way, same goes for their coal mines perhaps, Trumpton made some pretty big promises on his campaign through the rust belts of the states, so imo the commodities markets may struggle for some time. Thanks again chip | deka1
04/2/2017 12:12 | Deka, I am not totally convinced about a bottom in base materials so I am still on the fence a bit with Cu, Zn, Ni, Pb. Obviously, Zn is probably the best due to the number of mines closing before 2020. Note this will significantly impact bi-product silver supply!! I don't plan to go back into iron ore or coal at all. Likewise with energy although starting to watch Uranium a bit closer. It will probably fit well into a new longterm portfolio that I am planning to initiate fairly soon. I am still very keen to keep a big exposure to gold and silver, both the metals and the mining equities. There have been such huge drops in stock prices that even with the big rises over 2016 there is still more to come from mean reversion, etc. And constantly lurking in the background is the threat to the current monetary system from peak debt and bonkers CB actions. So very happy to be very overweight hard monetary assets which still appear to be great insurance in a world awash with paper 'assets'. Chip | chipperfrd
03/2/2017 15:57 | Cheers chip, the top 10 risks are interesting, and the forcast global gold prod drop from 2020 =1/3 by 2025,do you think the commodity cycle hit bottom early last year ? | deka1
03/2/2017 14:01 | Useful presentation by Randgold which highlights problem issues with mining sector over last 20 years and forward risks. Thought it was worth noting and saving. Chip | chipperfrd
02/2/2017 20:18 | Cheers RT! Off-topic: I have subscribed to RVTV. Already viewed some really good stuff. Big library left to work through over time. It all looks excellent value. Chip | chipperfrd

02/2/2017 18:17 | Dek thanks for that advice which is sound. However with Oceana there have been simmering tensions in the Philippines for Some months. 10 years ago when exchange posts I took a lot more risks but now I really find myself Much more sensitive to these news stories. You probably remember when Cey had their mining permits withdrawn for i think it could have been 2 years, then I sat it out. Today I simply could not do that . All the best | atlantic57
02/2/2017 17:24 | Atlantic hi, just be careful when reading these boards mate, a lot of exaggerated /fake/ twisted news gets posted these days, ask the Donald lol. Good luck mate | deka1
