LFL's continuing to improve from -20% approx last year. First quarter looking closer to -11%, and with a decent April, should be getting closer to positive territory by July time.

Time to buy in advance of May's annual update.

Time for rally to begin

May 2011 results should at last demonstrate that LMR is beginning to successfully turn things around. Like for like sales should be in low negative figures, trending towards positive levels. Current liabilities will be greatly improved as a result of the new banking facility. Last year, this was shown in the accounts as £140m, this year should be £99m maximum, and given that net debt as at October 2010 was £85m, there should be a material improvement in liabilities in May. There should also be far less writedowns. The main asset writedowns arose last year - this was why the share price collapsed, however, this could be about to start reversing sharply.

As I understand it, LMR is still trading profitable, and the banking facility is now also being improved. I think these results could mark the turning point but also lead to a takeover if the price does not start moving up a bit soon.

Looking at the volume today either the seller is getting close to being completed or there is stakebuilding going on here.....maybe both!

£2388, £3810 and £9720. They're not exactly betting the farm, are they? Directors' share purchases can signal all sorts of things in the range from 'cheap buy' to 'desperate support'. Time will tell which this is.

Directors buying today and preclose trading update was March 12 last year.

I know this company very well indeed and the future is not bright.
A company with poor entertainment, promotion and very cheap DJ's to keep costs down is now having it's toll.
I of all people wish to see this company at least back to around the 100p mark, but their strategies have so far been desperate and dated.

Imagine that LMR at present priced to go bust at 15p does not actually do so ! It slowly keeps recovering over the coming years and returns to its previous £8 ! Won't happen in 5 minutes but whilst still alive it is not absolutely impossible. Potential gain considerable you could say and possibly worth a small punt.

Given up on these in the past week - easier, safer, faster money to be made elsewhere in this market I suspect.

I can't think what they were, other than of the 'not quite so dire as you might have expected' variety.

LMR actually need to stabilise the downward spiral of their business. They are still nowehere near doing that and the best they can say is that the trend of downward spiral is flattening slightly if you take out the effects of the weather.

("Excluding those weeks affected by the weather, same outlet sales for the 12 weeks to 6 January 2011 fell by 13.6% (compared to 16.9% for the 7 weeks to 14 October). Over the trading weeks of Christmas and New Year same outlet sales were ahead of anticipated levels and forecast. Including those weeks affected by weather same outlet sales for the 12 weeks to 6 January 2011 fell by 19.4%. Overall, same outlet sales for the 45 weeks to 6 January 2011 fell by 19.6%.")

-13.6% vs -16.9% (but actually -20%) may not have been sufficient to tempt that commentator to recommend a buy. The clue may be in the title of the publication - Growth Investor.

How can they recover this business ? VAT has just increased to 20% which will add to the business finance problems.

LMR was £8 four years ago. At 16p if they recover [and they are evidently working at it], there could be a lot of profitable price increase for those prepared to take a risk.
