01/9/2011 09:37 | The writing was on the wall as soon as the licensing laws were relaxed allowing pubs to stay open late. The 'usp' of clubs - that you could get a drink after 'closing time' - was removed at a stroke and they have little else to offer. Bearing in mind that the financial effects would not have become immediately apparent until figures were reported the following year, the graph pretty well tells the story. | jeffian
01/9/2011 08:32 | SP now 3p. I ahve heard a lot more clubs are being sold to raise funds. | hotfinance14
01/9/2011 01:20 | Funny because Luminar were like Tesco they bought everything they could to rule clubland lots of privately owned clubs closed while the steam roller rolled on it may have worked if they chose their robbing managers a bit better. I agree zero in no time get your 4p while you can. | djfrankie2
31/8/2011 10:40 | Not a holder, but surprised to see this holding at 4p. Last orders are being called and if you don't collect your 4p per share now it will be too late. If you are still holding here and the value of your shares is not de minimis then IMV selling now would be a good idea. A takeover is looming, but I suspect pricing will be consistent with no equity value and in all likelihood the banks will take a loss as well. "Luminar banks open to approaches 30-08-2011 | 07:00 | Print Luminar's banks have indicated they are open to approaches from potential buyers for the nightclub business. Lloyds TSB, Barclays and Royal Bank of Scotland are believed to be considering a sale of the Oceana and Liquid nightclubs operator as one of the options for addressing the £80m debt burden. 30/08/11 Times 34, 35" Source: EGi | scburbs
31/8/2011 10:27 | This town, is 'coming like a ghost town, bands won't play no more, too much fighting on the dance floor | deanroberthunt
25/8/2011 17:58 | They blame the London Riots...who goes nightclubbing on a tuesday night!!! | hotfinance14
25/8/2011 17:52 | Not sure what's funny | john09
25/8/2011 08:46 | As i forecast the share price would soon be below 5p and it is. LMR revenues are down 11.7% over the last 25 weeks and they partly blame the London riots...LOL. | hotfinance14
18/8/2011 16:57 | When is the update coming? It is the 18th August now???? Talk about taking it to the wire...... This is not good for our nerves, and surely shareholders deserve to be told what is going on???? | bahrain2
03/8/2011 14:31 | We are still waiting for the update............ Surely this is not going to be given on the 30th August????? Given all that shareholders have endured, you would think they could have been told or given an indication of how things were going with the banks......... | bahrain2
21/7/2011 13:49 | Luminar Entertainment, the UK's largest nightclub operator has adapted two of its venues to offer a full live music experience. The venues, Tru in Brighton and Oceana in Plymouth, with 850 and 1000 capacity respectively, have had over £100,000 invested in them to bring the sound system and environment up to the level needed to host gigs. Tim Howard, Head of Entertainment for Luminar says 'Luminar clubs regularly host performances by many of the country's leading artists and enhancing this operation is a natural progression. Brighton and Plymouth both have a vibrant live music scene, huge catchment areas, yet under represented with suitable venues. The venues will fill this gap and provide a fantastic experience to musicians, music fans and promoters alike, a number of the big national promoters have already shown an interest in the venues. The work will be completed in time for the peak autumn indoor touring season'. Luminar have retained James Bruce, formerly of the Mama Group to assist in booking talent to perform at the two venues. | bahrain2
21/7/2011 12:43 | I understand the banks were OK with the latest update and have agreed to amend the banking facility + to make some improvements to the facility. It all sounds very positive, and I understand the banks now want LMR to roll out the Jongleurs / comedy night events across as much of the estate as possible, as soon as possible. This is seen as a key way in attracting back lost trade since teenagers / 18-24 age group will be financially constained for a while. There is also some talk of running trial sessions to try and attract the older customer with over 50 and over 60's events, these to be held in the early afternoon. It would seem attracting as wide a part of the population to the clubs must eventually translate via increased gross revenue in due course. The initiatives over older ages are interesting - clearly the clubs are never used at say 2pm so this must be a winner, especially as a lot of older people are bored stiff each day since there is never anything for them to do apart from at the weekends............ | bahrain2
24/6/2011 14:11 | Its a new dance step! | bahrain2
23/6/2011 13:37 | What are Jongleurs....those new drinks ? | hotfinance14
23/6/2011 11:47 | 11m still go clubbing so there is a big resource there that could easily expand once things become financially easier. However, before that, increasing use of the clubs by introducing comedy nights, Jongleurs etc, magic evenings etc, must boost sales as revenue rises. I am told that costs are extremely tightly controlled on those evenings / events. | bahrain2
23/6/2011 11:28 | I know people that use to go to their clubs...they dont have the money anymore. | hotfinance14
23/6/2011 11:18 | Not sure why you think it won't make a profit again | john09
23/6/2011 10:01 | LMR won't end up in administration as long as the banks continue to support it. Recent big buys including institutional buying suggest some believe the bottom has been reached..... | bahrain2
23/6/2011 09:59 | yeah, but it is a punt on the recession and unemployment, especially youth unemployment. If that starts to improve, that could radically affect valuations of stocks like this one. 2009 rights issue was at 95p, so current trading price reflects a view that the stock is bust. However, banks are on side and a longer term refinancing programme is being negotiated currently. I understand that they are now preparing for the Autumn season and there is an increased roll out of the Jongleurs and similar nights at a wider range of clubs. The secret to getting this one back on track is to increase use of the clubs at non nightclub hours. Jongleuers is working and increased revenue must be beneficial to the bottom line. We cannot just depend on nightclub use and revenue when young people are facing record unemployment levels. These other events attract a maturer, better off financially crowd who are willing to pay admission price to a comedy night, and then have a few drinks afterwards. However, the affect of the increased use will not become obvious according to Numis stockbrokers until July onwards, so hopefully an update will follow on July 12th confirming this. Let's face it - it is about time we had some good news! | bahrain2
23/6/2011 08:36 | John09...but trading is awful and they will never make a profit again. | hotfinance14
22/6/2011 17:23 | Its share price is 6p it's been £10 !! It's a punt. I have 150,000 shares at these levels. It's a dog but some times they pay off as part of a balanced portfolio. If things get brighter then they could be 30 - 50p levels before you know it.. You pay yer money you take yer chance. It's a dog, it's a punt. It's the biggest nightclub business in the uk!! | john09
22/6/2011 17:20 | This company will end up in administration. | hotfinance14
22/6/2011 16:54 | No. 8-) | jeffian
21/6/2011 13:03 | Lmr will never make a profit in the future so why invest ? | hotfinance14 |
