08/9/2006 08:06 | if these get any 'cheaper' then they'll be giving em away with cornflakes... certainly glad I didn't go 'bottom fishing' with this last week | don muang
05/9/2006 08:43 | well there's 400k for the coffers ..... so if they flog off everything then they should break even. Seems they bought WIN as part of a larger purchase (Radio Investments) - but were unable to turn it around. Not surprising really if they imposed their A/B national playlist policy on it and made it sound similar to lots of other stations on the dial. Wonder what the 'due diligence' was like on the rest of the Radio Investment stationsthey took over. | don muang
18/8/2006 12:05 | would think the word 'dire' comes to mind ... hence the graph ! | don muang
18/8/2006 11:33 | Any idea on what the cash situation is now? | bb123
18/8/2006 07:02 | and 90% of their income is from 'radio' - unfortunately with the internet/ mp3 / ipod age then they are in a declining market. they also seem to be utilzing a national Playlist A/B system - which somewhat defeats local radio set-up and most radio listeners I know dislike such a system. Playlist system is created by 'creative' departments - but it's the least creative way to do things. It's robot radio. I think they've thrown away their 'local' advantage - and costs cuts are only going to lead to inferior programming which'll lead to listener declines. as a stand alone company then their time might be limited. | don muang
17/8/2006 23:39 | its got no cash, but is still burning through the stuff - or that was my reading of the situation when i last looked a couple of months ago? | rambutan2
17/8/2006 11:03 | it's just ticked up .... wouldn't bet on it ever getting back to it's IPO price of 100p though! | don muang
17/8/2006 10:52 | Well, on past evidence, it'll be down!!! | sofa spud
03/8/2006 07:22 | number of listeners up ..... total number of listeners down. next share price move ??? | don muang
27/7/2006 17:00 | E.B. the press release you've quoted is from 2nd June - so probably would not be responsible for a sudden dive in share price at 14.30 on 27th July and if it was the 60k of shares sold at 14.28 that dropped the price, then if a transaction of just over £10k can move the share price down so much then I've on;ly got one thing to say - the companies up the creek with out a paddle. | don muang
27/7/2006 16:51 | Local Radio CO(The) Local Radio Company warns of FY loss after swinging into the red in H1 LONDON (AFX) - The Local Radio Company PLC said it is examining all options to improve shareholder value as it announced a swing to underlying losses for the first half and predicted a loss for the full year. In a gloomy first half earnings statement, the company said it is still being affected by volatile advertising markets and warned it expects adverse market conditions to continue for the "foreseeable future". The group posted an EBITDA loss for the first half to March 31 of 0.6 mln stg compared with a positive 0.2 mln a year earlier as revenue, including shares of joint ventures, edged up to 9.83 mln stg from 9.77 mln. The UK radio broadcaster, which operates 32 stations, registered a core pretax loss of 2.02 mln stg over the period, compared with a loss of 940,000 a year before. "In the short term we are still affected by the volatility of the advertising market," said Richard Wheatly, chief executive, noting however that the company is outperforming a "challenging market" both for national and local sales. newsdesk@afxnews.com abr | english bigblls
27/7/2006 16:48 | so looks like directors share options 'right at the bottom' (39p) were not quite right at the bottom. No RNS announcement today but a substantial fall in share price during the afternoon. Did all their playout servers crash and lose all the adverts or something... !!! Any one out there monitoring this stock have any idea for the fall towards oblivion ? | don muang
13/3/2006 13:47 | Interesting appointment just announced...I suspect that once all her share options etc are on board (the other directors have already managed to get theirs!) at this absurdly low price we shall see solid share price appreciation... Not b4 time of course...but an excellent long term opportunity here imho! | scotswhaehae
02/2/2006 11:00 | up a tad... The Local Radio Company Plc ("TLRC") announces that, according to Q4 2005 RAJAR figures published today, it now has 862,000 listeners per week (compared with 851,000 listeners in Q3 2005) with total listening hours of 7.44 million (compared with 7.35 million in Q3 2005). | rambutan2
18/1/2006 22:13 | If you want a UK radio 'play' (no pun intended) then TLR is probably the best. I've lost small amounts on it twice... !! If your in at the right time (i.e. got money and patience to leave in it indefinitely) then think you'll make money with it eventually.... | krishall
18/1/2006 18:55 | i think that it's already done enough falling thankyou. it looks an interesting special situation sort of play. is in an unloved sector. has had a terrible share price drop comparative to any news they've released. high quality shareholders have upped stakes in recent months ie herald and perpetual investment trusts. they both patient shareholders and i suspect that for the similarly minded buying in at current price will offer a decent reward. | rambutan2
18/1/2006 18:34 | Chairman admitted the groups stations didn't perform as well as expected during the year. Its cashflow is weakened by audience losses at several of its stations. Apparently the view of one analyst is that TLR needs to demonstrate to the City that it can achieve a track record of success at its existing stations and start-ups before it attempts fo finance further acquisitions. PS: at least share price didn't fall in todays turbulent market.... so that's a good sign... | krishall
18/1/2006 17:09 | agree, would certainly be a problem after recent share price trajectory. although when you refer to putting their own house in order do you mean there are internal probs? | rambutan2
18/1/2006 07:29 | Correct... but 'Radio Magazine' said that suggestions from the City seem to indicate that fundraising might be a problem...that it'd be better to put there own 'house' in order before trying to expand further | krishall
18/1/2006 03:09 | i read somewhere that tlr are one of the bidders for a port of stations that gcap want to unload. | rambutan2
17/1/2006 13:44 | G.. It's the formating of the commercial stations (decided by the respective managements) that has meant short term profits ... but longer term decline. The new technology of the playout systems like Enco and Dalet could have been utilized in a much better way. Even the new GCap have effectively admitted this recently. Also a new announcement by GCap since my post of #29 has made me reconsider the local radio sub-sector. TLR is undervalued as such - but if sub-sector is declining then not sure if TLR will remain undervalued even if share price doesn't increase. TLR is best of the bunch but in a declining market then ....... PS. Even running on minimum costings then unless the commercial radio stations provide the programs that the audiences (i.e. customers) want then they ain't going to make a profit... | krishall |
