06/6/2013 13:41 | Completely agree Smithie - I come across this more and more now. Also, OTC doesn't work for me at all. Every trade is reject as not being good in the underlying market. It will only ever work if there are actual shares available off the book. But then I might as well just use DMA. | liam1om

06/2/2013 18:30 | Huge spike up today, has spob put a trade with them? | gbb483
04/2/2013 07:56 | I am bearish and have been raising cash over the last week. However, IG looks modestly valued, has a dominant position in many countries and pays a 4.9% yield and might do quite well if markets are flying around in 2013 as long as they can protect themselves from bad debt. On my watch list! | deepvalueinvestor
04/2/2013 07:26 | OK if anyones interested i have opened a spreadbet account with Finspreads. They allow you to set multiple orders which do not affect your margin unless those orders are trigerred to become live trades on your account. | spob
30/1/2013 13:02 | come on, someone must know some spreadbetters who dont take margin on pending orders | spob
30/1/2013 11:23 | They still manage to pay me a 4.5% divi, so I guess they don't miss your business. | gbb483
30/1/2013 07:39 | I hardly ever trade with IG now because of the daft way they calculate account margin. Just a few long term positions. They make hardly any commission off of me. Nearly all of my trades go through CMC because of this. | spob
30/1/2013 07:37 | At any one time i might have 20 orders with cmc which i edit and cancel all the time they are low ball orders and the chances of many of them triggering at the same time is zero in times of high volatility / market panic those orders would be adjusted accordingly So any suggestions please for "spreadbet" providers who only calculate account margin on the basis of actual live positions ? Thanks | spob
30/1/2013 06:52 | The reason I bet almost solely with IG is because their credit department is the safest and most risk averse in the industry. It makes sense to factor in margin for pending positions. If they all got filled suddenly, where would you stand ? By all means try the others, but some of them take huge risks and may go down, with your margin, overnight on a big unfavourable spike. The other big spread company, City Index, are equally risk averse, as are Cantors and Spreadex. | mark knopfler
30/1/2013 04:33 | Subject : Margin treatment of pending orders set I have a spreadbet account with IG Index which i am happy with apart from their margin treatment of pending orders. ie : they subtract the margin requirment for pending orders set, as well as the margin requirement for actual live positions. This means i can't set more than a few pending orders without using up a huge whack of my account margin. Which is really daft. So i am looking for alternative spreadbet providers who only calculate your margin on the basis of actual positions taken rather than on pending orders aswell. I have a CFD account with CMC markets which allows me to set as many orders as i like. And those orders only affect my account margin if they become live account positions. Which makes sense. Any suggestions please for "spreadbet" providers who only calculate account margin on the basis of actual live positions ? | spob

11/12/2012 08:07 | These numbers were well flagged. markets have been quiet. What was not well-flagged was the increasing domination by IG in it's markets. When stock markets roar again so will these. | weemonkey
