17/11/2004 12:01 | This stock tends to have static periods and then it gets active and interesting. The company deals mainly with wealthy individuals and their assets and insures associated risks in a rather straight forward manner. The Chairman is also a very straight talker and I think was at one time the deputy chairman of Lloyds. He is often quoted in the press and is trying to move the insurance industry forward. I have made reasonable money buying and selling over the last 1 or 2 years, but you can get stuck in the doldrums every now and again. The trade winds will come before the year is out. | croquetman
17/11/2004 11:47 | Lets face it, doent set the world on fire does it. Made 2p so far... thrilling. I don't really know this stock and I don't much understand underwriting. | hectorp
16/11/2004 16:53 | And today more buys than sells. A little premature to be assuming a turn up but.......one can hope. | croquetman
15/11/2004 17:26 | At least a little more volume today. Thats always been good news. | croquetman
15/11/2004 12:35 | Can't quite understand this share at the moment. Each day for the last one or two weeks the share has been oversold and the price dipping a little, but there is no reason why this share should be underperforming the overall Ins Index. I think it is time to add some more sometime this week. Stochastics are starting to suggest this, but RSI still a little high for a purchase today imho. | croquetman
15/11/2004 08:57 | Long a spread on these today, seem oversold compared with peers IMO. | hectorp
11/11/2004 16:58 | This share has drifted in the last few week whilst the Insurance index has gone up 15-20%. No reason what so ever for Hiscox not to be part of this so I can only assume that an upward trend is due before the month end or year end at least. | croquetman
09/11/2004 17:03 | Yes that is planning in advance. I am surprised that HSX has been so "flat" recently, my graphs keep telling me a break out is due soon, but it still hasn't come. | croquetman

30/10/2004 15:52 | Might even hit 175-185 by mid November! | croquetman
27/10/2004 23:22 | up up and away! | jarsav
21/10/2004 09:53 | I agree, and have topped up recently. Price impacted by American Insurance issues which I would be very surprised if they touched Hiscox. I think we will see the 175-185p range reached by end of November. Looking forward to the ride. | croquetman
20/10/2004 21:41 | Nope, I'm here too...looks like an even better time to buy now support at this level ? | interlektual
06/10/2004 14:02 | Am I the only one on this thread? Looks like a good time to buy. I think a quick 5% to 10% should be able to be made in the short term. | croquetman
21/9/2004 08:43 | Anyone reading this thread? Any comments on HSX which I have been successfully trading for some time. | croquetman
07/4/2004 10:34 | UBS placing 54-million Hiscox @ 165p (believed to be on behalf of Chubb) | analyzer
07/4/2004 09:10 | a rival site is showing 55.4m this a.m. can anyone shed any light? simple mistake - or have chubb sold entire holding (in which case its a remarkably resilient price) | dayjob
24/3/2004 15:48 | this, aml, chu, wel. little beauties. re-rating to p/e 12 within 6 months's my guess | dayjob
23/3/2004 18:56 | so paddy, not one of your picks? | rambutan2
23/3/2004 18:03 | The other Kevin, capacity is the ability to accept business with a total premium of 847 million of which they own 65 pct and therefore the rest 35pct is owned by names. This means that Hiscox in effect get only 65 pct of the profits available. Most ilvs are attempting to aquire all of the capacity available for obvious reasons. | paddyfool
23/3/2004 13:07 | no takers on stonking results? now on pe of just over 8. a few quibbles but overall cant really be faulted. another ilv bargain. | rambutan2
27/1/2004 21:54 | quality stock with well below quality rating.... expect it to rerate gradually and wont need much volume to do it | worldcupwinner99
26/11/2003 12:04 | Any insurance gurus out there who can explain the significance of "capacity" in this annoucement on Tuesday: "Lloyd's insurer Hiscox PLC confirmed it has secured its target of 847 mln stg of capacity for 2004 of which it will own 65 pct." | the other kevin |
