I am short around these levels-- will be happy to increase those positions next week if Glencore shares rise above 295p.

Topped up on Friday
£3+ by end of the week should be possible if the momentum and positive investment continues.
The Dividend announcement should happen any day if the glencore management have their act together.
I still expect it to be moderate at about $10cents. Anything greater would be cream on this excellent share.
Shorters beware (if they still exist)!

What price is oversold??I think next few years is sector rotation so mining companies will be favourable...Buy the dips

i've want a pair of jeans with a zip round the back for those occasions, because it makes sense in between slip roads on the motorway hard shoulder. I open the front & back doors and squat in the middle, if the trimmed grass verge embankment is too steep or lube slippery

FTSE down more than i realised but heavily weighted to mining stocks and that will be why . Doubt that miners will not recover next week .

actually GLEN is outperforming other miners which are well down so far .Took my profit at 284.90 as I play the market conservatively ( small C as I despise MAY and the Tories ) .

Iron ore and copper will keep soaring quite possibly, the infrastructure plans suggested by Trump could go on for two decades plus, with the rest of the world wanting the same.

I wonder whether Europe will wake up to the fact that they need to kickstart everything again as opposed to just servicing debt forever without any conceivable growth.

Trump has certainly lit the fire and the market knows it, thus the huge jumps in miners so far. We could eventually see Glencore at £10 in two years, nothing to stop it if the talk coming from the USA is real. There is a lot to do there as far as infrastructure and there's no better way to get those jobs rolling than this kind of spending.

topaz - I had similar experiences when shorting and now only do it very occasionally . Hope the party is not over for GLEN as I bought for day trade at 278 . hoping it can rebound to about 286 !

I'd be careful shorting miners and commodities as they may have much much farther to go. Whenever I have lost money big time it's been shorting so am now sticking to stock picking undervalued assets then watching them soar. Timing when spread betting shorts is paramount and unless one has unlimited leverage it's way too dangerous, I think I've now learned my lessons. Good luck however with your choices.
