Yes, chart looks bullish but it does not always predict the future.I have plenty of insurance for short positions, so I just build up my positions and take profits when target price is hit ..... I just need lots of volatility to be profitable.

did well to get out at 270 - think narrow range this week

despite copper stronger - emerging market bond sell off continues with dollar strength

still see this in 3- 3.50 range march - july

I deal in options most of the time --- margin calls can be a regular thing unless you have already bought cheap cover in advance.Recently I bought cover for short positions at around 250p level -- then I sold loads of short position 280-288p level.Trying to buy margin/risk cover in advance of your main trades is my main headache -- taking losses / profits is the easy part.Have a good weekend and good luck.

Arja - I trade full time and after getting into financial difficulties after being caught out on a margin position with a large position in 2002 and almost losing my house etc when the cfo and ceo of a tech company where suspended due to financial irregularities - ( similar to rcn last week) I lost over 260k and it taught be a hefty lesson on margin - it took me 4 yrs to recover

I retired from work in November 2014 - and since then decided to just play market sensibly - fortunately I played glencore since sept 15 - this year have made over 2 million in glencore trading as my main holding throughout year - getting out when significant news impacts can effect price adverse - I sold out when got frothy last week but bought back in over last couple days.

I still intend to get out before dec 14 when Fed will increase rates - probably a week beforehand

losses - I see glencore at £3plus by March unless some significant issues with Trumps first 100 days but if you recall last year after December rate increase the market sold off heavily so although I hope you are right I will be out until after fed - yr end statement comes at end of yr results which should be good - but depending on value if yaun I will go in heavy in January if looks ok and currency within emerging markets hold up with Trump

Seroserio - not sure after fed - probably go into financials if dollar strengthen so much - I have played hsbc and oil with bp and rdsa this yr but lot relies on opec meeting and trump will increase usa oil production shale - plus he will open up coal pits on top of china reopening production so commodities may be vulnerable until understand what happening in new yr - just leave dec and January alone - Barclays is a good play in uk banks at present - 30% of revenune from USA IN DOLLARS plus on track with non core disposals.

Younasm I wouldn't be surprised to see 240 -245 prior to fed - ut after rate increase even 225-230 - recovery to £3 by march april - still a lot can happen in meantime -

The fed rate hike is priced in --- just waiting for copper price to come off overbought level.Expecting a drop to 245-240p level over next two weeks, followed by year-end rise to 265-285p level.I have no idea what will happen in 2017 -- too many potential scenarios. Happy to trade the volatility!!!

How do you see Trump affecting commodities and share prices?
How soon would you get back in after the FED announcement do you think?

issue will be dec 14th when dollar strengthens further again - remember last December reaction and subsequent January awful start to year

Trump in on 20th Jan then may see some changes further - I think he will do tax cuts immediately and introduce a infrastructure funding package - maybe a 500b - 1 trillion bond - so he may do a deal with china over steel - which helps USA
but not 45% tariffs - needs them to maintain or buy more government debt.

China has stated will increase coal production in winter - that wont help - but deal glencore did with Japan in hindsight superb

I am in at 264 average I do not do cfd`s - have just over £450k in at present - have kept quite a lot of cash to take advantage of any falls -below 260 as I did earlier today

I do intend to be out 1 week prior to fed - and then back in probably around 235/240 - by march closer to £3 especially is dividend re-instated

be good if get shot of gold mine in kazagstan by then - would have reduced debt well below target plus additional income from improved commodity prices
