Nothing is safe and initially everything falls whenever there is a financial crisis.
The emperor is naked but could stay naked for some time.

Gsk is not immune to a financial crisis.

Howvever it should recover once the dust settles from any fall.

Yes I see your point Alphorn. £22 to £10 . I bought if memory serves me right about £14.50 then it went down to £11 ish. But I just held it collecting dividends and it gradually came back to a decent capital profit. In and out a few` times.

I find the company to be conservative in their approach to business , div 4 times a year, some protection against the fall in the pound a decent defensive stock . With operations through out the world , so if one nation has problems it’s ofset by growth in another country.

No company is entirely safe

You may have lost some sleep some years ago when the share price fell from its highs. Not always safe.

Well said Atlantic57

You can’t go too wrong with GSK. With Brexit uncertainty it’s a must hold . Like the fact you get Dividends 4 times a year and it’s a good balance against the pound dropping in value.

I never lost sleep holding GSK

Yes Dr B, but how do you think all this pans out for GSK. That is the aspect this site is interested in.

Trumps “deal” with N.Korea didn’t amount to much. The US gave up significant concessions and made Kim look like an international statesman, NK gave up nothing. I don’t think it hurts to talk to NK but their history is one of not keeping to any concessions they make.

Same with Putin, Trump took his word over his own intel and only changed his mind when he realised what he said was unpopular. He is cutting taxes and expanding the deficit at an alarming rate. That’s what happens when you elect a four times bankrupt. He is full of fact free statements that his disciples follow. No doubt he appeals to his own but when the deficit has to be repaid he will blame it on others. I give it a year before the sugar rush of tax cut and spending leads to either a slow down as the fed has to control inflation, or a deficit issue.

#17852 Stupidly, May lost before she started. She failed to push back hard when the EU said only THEY could set the terms of the negotiating process. Ergo, she agreed (in principle) to a massive exit payment - when logic suggests the opposite is true, they owe us for the capital invested in the EU. Also, allowed them to introduce the Irish border into the process, opening the door to a grab for territory..... a united Ireland..

romeike - "You'd think people would recognise the tactic by now. Trump is successful because he uses the leverage he has, throws everything in the air, gets the snowflakes screaming then does a deal that is better for the US, even if it's just a bit better. This is how he is helping the US to over 4% annual growth while the likes of the EU are stagnant economic wasteland."

TBH romeike I guess only people who have been used to negotiating in business know the score, for the likes of all the snowflakes and liberals and media and people in general they haven't got a clue, that's basically why Obama achieved so little, being an excellant orator (As he was) does not alone make a good negotiator.

Somebody said on this board a while back that the US will almost certainly elect Trump for another term, all the people mentioned above will not like it but that's tough haha.

TM . Trump said he would impose 25% on imports from China. China will react accordingly. Yadayada

GSK in my view is an excellent share to hold defensively and with a decent yield

No change in the £$ exchange rate, so why the drop? Higher cost of borrowing?
