Exactly, gsk is basically a $ valued company. Other things equal, when £/$ goes down, its price in £ will be up.

Interest rate rise next week could lead to £ goes down if the announcement wording makes it clear that it is a one off for a long time to come, and vice versa.

whatsup32 - I'm with you, GSK was a significant beneficiary of the referendum and sterling's depreciation.

Not sure I follow either . Interest rate increase usually means pound going up in value, the dollar will have less value against pound.

Last November (previous rate increase), the blue-chip FTSE 100, whose performance is shaped by the value of sterling, rose following the decision and ended 0.9 per cent higher. This time GSK should also respond well, since a large part of its earnings are $ based, which on a falling pound return a higher income to GSK.

TM, sorry to appear thick but can you explain in laymen's terms how a BoE interest increase would affect us GSK holders. I'm sure said increase is around the corner, with more to follow. N.R.

GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK.LN) said Friday that the European Medicines Agency has issued a positive opinion recommending its Nucala drug as an add-on treatment for asthma in young patients.
"If approved Nucala could provide an additional option for younger patients in Europe who still struggle to control their asthma despite taking inhaled steroids and other controller medications," Chief Scientific Officer Hal Barron said.
An EMA positive opinion is one of the final steps towards a marketing authorization within the European Union.
GlaxoSmithKline said that if approved, Nucala would be the first targeted biologic therapy for the treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma in pediatric patients in Europe.

I did the same (1608p) for Monday (expecting a rise from the Chairman's hints and product news) - just for speculation

maybe I'll get back to trading on the smaller swings ….. ;0).

imo - As said previously adjustment of dividend flagged as possible (reading between the lines) of cash flow comments in presentation/accounts yesterday - or am I being paranoid?
If correct some income funds may be selling down but have alread lost 1 year+ divs from yesterday.

FDA rejection this morning doesn't help. I've not really looked into the trials, but to get more data to prove efficacy is always a slow process. No really sure how much was expected of that but its hard to separate the rejection from the initially positive results.
