whatsup32 - "can they go a symbolic amount say1/8th of a percentage"

With everything being done on the ol' computer a 1/8th% would be easy, but AFAIK it has never been done.

Can anyone reading this say if a central bank has ever increased (or decreased) the rate by 1/8th.???

Mark Carnage isn't interested in the future he won't be here but he would like to stuff us on Brexit before he goes, just to say he was right. He's talked us down at every stage so crippling us with another rate rise would seem par for the course before he goes.

If they feel they are that cornered , can they go a symbolic amount say1/8th of a percentage and add to the statement next increase won’t be for a while

The expectations for a rate increase are very high and well signaled. They are in a corner. Likely to happen.

Good point romeike. I agree , business is down across the board , high streets are suffering , housing is slowing , the last thing the economy needs right now is interest rate hike.

The BOE has talked itself into a corner on this but I think they will not increase rates because ultimately they will only do so if they absolutely have to such is their utter dependency on an easy money environment and the harmful effects of QE.

Better, from their perspective to lose a little bit more credibility now, than be blamed for causing a recession later.

Thanks. I'll be happy to get the 19p from this (rather than the dividend). If they sell, there may be a chance after Thursday to get them back cheaper ahead of the 9th (xd day). (I still hold a much larger quantity!)

Will Pharmas get into a Pickle ?

......... May is a dis Grace .............

The Government is away for a 6 week holiday as the Brexit clock ticks down

May is now going to crank up her fear/smear campaign whist Parliament is closed for 40 days by publishing a plethora of technical notes in one big wedge ( not what Raab wanted) , which lists all the NEGATIVE impacts of a hard Brexit for the UK.

No UK positives will be listed ,

No EU negatives will be listed

Remember the UK runs a Trade DEFICIT of around £80 Billions with the EU

This means the UK imports around £80 Billions of EU goods more than it exports goods from the UK to the EU

May is a disgrace

She has to GO
