"I fear that the holdings of small shareholder have absolutely zero effect on shorting.

Hedgies go straight to institutional holders who are very long term holders and indifferent to short term swings. They make a turn by loaning their stock and the hedgies make hay."

Correct. Let the fools play their little games. I am surprised they don't know this. Before they act against shorting they should fully understand the dynamics of its execution and benefit to the markets.

To all GSK shareholders. I have today put a Limit sell order on my holding in GSK of £20,to stop Shorter,s from loaning the shares from my broker, which they can do for a fee, without me or you knowing about.I suggest you do the same.

Alp - It is until Andrew Witty steps down, however, I dont think it is as closely watched of late. A cut and they may even go up?

I have not read the details yet, and can see that the market is down heavily, but on glancing through the results I am surprised they have fallen after several days of falling, due, I thought to uncertainty over results. I do not think they are poor results.

"Elsewhere, we added to several holdings including Provident Financial, Legal & General and GlaxoSmithKline. In order to fund the above additions, we trimmed our position in Roche very slightly. There were no other disposals.

Innovation and efficiency is the way to manage cost pressures.

The huge benefit of innovation is made crystal clear with the ViiV contribution.

Without the HIV franchise GSK would be worth closer to £12 a share imv.

Would expect the new CEO to be more aggressive on costs.

Results beat estimates but the share price declines on forward looking comments about pricing pressures. Div looks secure for some time yet, will be keeping with my current position
