EBG price strong again - possibly WTN will sell them off?

Or is it the super demand for coal in this big freeze?

It's good to see the positive reaction lasting two days!

Evans & Reid (est. 1922) have a website, but note it's not been updated for over two years:

They took coal from Tower Colliery, now closed, and appear to have a substantial presence in South Wales.

Agreed, the fact that EBG can sell the whole of its output is encouraging in the face of a coal price which doesn't look like going back up any time soon.

In troubled times, if they have got a deal that ensures a steady reliable profit then it takes the unknowns out of the equation for a few years.

judging by the steady buying here that deal by EBG looks very favourable

Asa Bridle, an analyst at Seymour Pierce, says: 'Though the various
prices included in the agreement have not be made public, we believe the contracts to be attractively priced.'

He obviously has been told the prices.....if he can write this

Can you find out what % of the value of their total coal annual production this deal represents?

10:34GMT 18Dec2008-Energybuild up; signs 5-year supply contract
---------------------------------------------------------------
Shares in Energybuild, the AIM-listed welsh anthracite producer,
climb 8.7 percent after the company signs a five-year fixed price supply
contract with Evans and Reid, prompting Seymour Pierce to retain its
'buy' recommendation on the stock.
Asa Bridle, an analyst at Seymour Pierce, says: 'Though the various
prices included in the agreement have not be made public, we believe the contracts to be attractively priced.'
The broker also highlights that given the current climate the deal provides
the company with added security.
'The contract also reduces the possible credit risk on Energybuild
resulting from bad debtors as E&R will be responsible for all sales to third
parties,' adds Bridle.

"At set prices" - set by the prevailing market, one assumes.

No numbers given, not for what RWE are paying. We'll probably get more information in the results, though.

lasata - re your post #360, I must own up to not really following CBM at all. I know I should pay more attention!

Shame, Azalea.

Brian, the substance of your post (for which thanks) has been in the FT and elsewhere, and ATH's results are pretty positive on the coal price.

The trouble with a falling share price here and now is that we don't know whether there's a company-specific problem, forced selling or general market malaise.

Azalea - funnily enough, the EBG Annual report doesn't list GLG Partners as a significant holder on 30/06.

So I've no idea.
