Guanabara increased offer to 90p - still too low IMHO although they appear to have secured about 25% of shares in promises to them, still some way to go for them though

Guanabara seem to now be admitting it's likely to be game over;

"Guanabara eyes new green financing firm
Published: 25 Aug 2009 16:49 CET

Guanabara may launch a new environmental financing firm if it fails to take over Ecosecurities."

I'm still suspicious about the involvement of TRE-they could table all cash or cash and share offer easily, especially now the share price has strengthened and is breaking out.

Also, it is clear that UBS MMs have been picking up stock for someone and have now over 5% of the voting rights.

The current outcome can not be of great suprise to either Guanabara or EDF so my guess is a higher offer at 88-90p from Guanabara or an alternative offer from another suitor.

anyone care to project what they think might happen once current bid for company fails? Not many other suitors on the sidelines...

What's going on with ECO. Received note from brokers suggesting a firm offer from Guanabara at 77p per share. Why when the share price is 89p?

imo it looks like a possible counter offer.

given the rise already from low 40's...most upside is already priced in.

Global CO2 Mkt,Strong Domestic Caps Needed To Cut Emissions-UK

A global carbon trading network combined with ambitious domestic targets to reduce emissions are needed if developed countries are to make the deep cuts needed in greenhouse gas emissions, a report commissioned by the U.K. government said Monday.

Linked cap-and-trade schemes for emitters of greenhouse gases should run alongside domestic efforts such as targeted regulation, taxation and public finance for developing carbon capture and storage to deliver substantial cuts quickly and cost effectively, said Mark Lazarowicz, the prime minister's representative for global carbon trading and author of the report.

"With the right reforms and participation, global carbon trading - alongside strong domestic effort - can help the world meet the tough emissions reduction targets as demanded by the science," said U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Global carbon trading could reduce the costs of cutting emissions by up to 70%. This could potentially allow the world to cut global emissions by an additional 40% to 50% at the same cost compared with domestic action alone, Lazarowicz said.

Carbon trading could also provide substantial financial flows to the developing world to support their transition to a low carbon economy.

Brown recently said $100 billion a year would be needed by 2020 to help developing countries reduce their emissions, tackle deforestation and adapt to the climate change already being experienced.

Looking good this morning. Up on small volume and if that 3m block trade is correct, and published/holding in company announced, three figures beckon!

There's a mysterious mark of 3m shares at 115.25p on my L2 screen - yet to be formally published. Probably an error but i'll keep an eye out.

Guanabara are selectively picking up stock in the market @ 77p. Interestingly, two decent purchases at 80p this morning. Trading Emissions has been quite quiet lately - I wonder....

'Guanabara's new bid for EcoSecurities remains far too low,' said Mirabaud Securities analyst Agustin Hochschild.

'In effect, EDF Trading is subsidising Guanabara's bid in exchange for CERs ... it's a sensible way forward for those two parties, but not necessarily for EcoSecurities shareholders.'

Arrogant chap ECO's founder isn't he! To do a deal with EDF before he even has control again of the company. Wonder how other players might react and a pitiful offer again
