04/7/2005 16:29 | At least this explains the recent rise - an institution wanting to take a large-ish position. Always good news - lowers the free float - shares harder to get hold of and instutional backing for the management. Schroder are also big players - will others follow....note that they are buying on behalf of "clients". 8% is a pretty large stake to start off with. -------------------- RNS Number:4430O Block Shield Corporation PLC 04 July 2005 Block Shield Corporation ("the Company") Notification of Interest 4 July 2005 The Company has been notified by a letter dated 30 June 2005 that Schroder Investment Management Limited is interested in 2,500,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company (representing 8.387 per cent. of the total number of ordinary shares in issue), which are held in portfolios managed on a discretionary basis for clients under investment management agreements. 17/6/2005 11:27 | Interesting email just arrived: - Dear All, Any of the following of interest? Maintenance / Integrity, Safety, Asset Tracking, Logistics, Inventory Management, Work Control, Process Improvement, People Tracking RFID (Radio frequency ID) technology is cropping up all over the place at the moment, from promises of retail improvements at the supermarket checkout to the threat of 'Big Brother' personnel tracking solutions impacting our human rights. The Upstream Oil and Gas industry is not, it seems, immune to this relatively quiet revolution. There are already several applications being implemented with many more being actively considered by operators, contractors and solution providers. It is very likely that you or your business will be impacted in some way by RFID over the short to medium term, whether it is 'Done to' or 'Done by' you. In order to throw some light on what is going on, primarliy although not exclusively in the Upstream industry, we have secured a poweful line up of speakers for a half day (lunch until early evening) seminar we are offering on 23rd June at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels Hotel, Aberdeen. Hear about: The technology - what is RFID technology, what is the 'State of the Art' ? Spartan Solutions will illustrate. Case Studies - both within and outwith the Upstream industry. How is Unisys deploying RFID for the US military to track assets 'in use', 'in storage' and 'in motion'? How is Arnlea (of Inverurie) deploying RFID for a local contractor to track rental equipment? The potential future - how might the technology evolve, what are the risks / issues (some applications are very controvertial), what should we expect? The Upstream industries view - what are BP (operators perspective) and AMEC (contractors perspective) thinking about all of this? Participate in a lively Q & A session that will draw on the expert knowledge of our panel to answer your questions. If you want more information or wish to register give us a call or go to www.logic-events.com and click on the RFID seminar button. 15/6/2005 07:20 | A lot of emphasis being put on RFID technology,I think tey know this area is going to be huge. I am particularly pleased to be able to advise that the growth in the Group's RFID applications has been considerable and we are creating a new RFID division focusing exclusively on this significant and fast expanding area. Several companies, already active in the RFID market, have expressed interest in the Group's solutions. | dafad

Pier Antoniucci, CEO, commented: "Since joining the board in June of last year I have seen the Group's technical product offerings grow from strength to strength. Over the past fourteen months we have made substantial progress in identifying exciting and highly visible market opportunities for our technology. As such we have established two divisions within the Group - each one with its own dedicated resources - in order to move quickly to capture the market opportunities that we can exploit both with our industry leading technical expertise and our patented technology. I am pleased to report that we now have a number of high profile customers for our shielding technologies including IBM, Watkins Johnson and Siemens Medical amongst others and have engaged in a number of potentially lucrative discussions concerning the myriad of opportunities within the emerging RFID market." For Further Information: Teather & Greenwood Limited Adam Pollock (Sales) Stephen Austin (Corporate Finance) 020 7426 9000 Hansard Communications plc Andrew Tan 020 7245 1100 Chairman's Statement I am pleased to report on the results for the Group for the fourteen-month period ended 28th February 2005. Commentary During the period, Block Shield Corporation plc firmly established its reputation as both a leader in the field of innovative shielding solutions for the electronics sector and as a potential key participant in the burgeoning Radio Frequency identification (`RFID') arena. Through the period, revenues grew by more than 125% and our customers increased from a mere handful to in excess of 50 of the world-leading electronics manufacturers in the consumer, medical and military fields. Our solutions are now incorporated in equipment manufactured by such leaders as IBM, Arwest, Somanetics Corp., JDS Uniphase, Harmonics, Sun Microsystems, Ora Sure, Rockwell Automation, Zonare Medical Systems, Refraction Technologies, Plexus, Axsys Automation, Bose Corporation, WJ communications, Zoll Medical Corporation, Celestica Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Target Instruments, Siemens Medical, Abbott Labs, General Dynamics, St. Jude, Insight Technology Incorporated, Precision Plastics, Inc., Sanmina-SCI and Stryker Instruments. Having set our sights on maintaining a strong pipeline of products and solutions, we exceeded our expectations by developing new applications for our current products as well as innovating new products using our current portfolio of technologies. During the year, our intellectual property protection was significantly bolstered by the granting of key patents not only for our products but also for the industrial processes for their manufacture. The Group now enjoys ten granted patents with 22 additional patents pending. Acquisitions and Disposals During the period, we successfully completed the acquisition of Deep Coat Metallizing Inc. (`Deep Coat'), and in doing so we cost effectively acquired significant business assets and brought key manufacturing processes under our direct control. As a result of this we are now able to provide further complementary and extensive metal deposition solutions to our customers. Furthermore, the acquisition of Deep Coat enabled us to divest of the assets and lower margin business of the Group's subsidiary, Vacuum Platers Inc. The combined effect of these transactions has enabled the Group to increase gross margins on its business, a trend which we continue to enjoy today by virtue of the innovative patented solutions both at the technology and at the manufacturing level that allow competitive prices at lucrative industrial margins. Next year we expect margin growth to continue to increase. Sale of DECA Attachments A major category of EMC components sold by the Group is our patented electromagnetic interference (`EMI') shields. These consist of our proprietary metal coated plastic structures which enjoy the flexibility of providing the desired mechanical characteristics of plastics as well as the electrical characteristics of metal. Our customers prefer these shield solutions to the heavier and costlier metal equivalent. The ever increasing demand for a lead-free attachment method has also been addressed by the Group with our proprietary solder free attachment methodology which employs an electro conductive adhesive (`DECA') applied at a much lower temperature than traditional soldering solutions. During the reporting period, we also developed the manufacturing machines necessary for the semiautomatic assembly of our DECA attachment processes. Moreover, a number of leading US customers adopting the Group's EMI component and the related DECA semiautomatic machine have not only placed orders of initial volumes of EMI shields but have also purchased and successfully installed the semiautomatic DECA machines in their own production lines. The commitment of these customers to incur the capital and time expense associated with the installation of the DECA machines provides a level of assurance as to continuing commitment to order our products. The DECA machines are now regarded by the Group as an additional product which compliments and enhances the sales of our EMI Shield product line. Faster versions of the DECA machines as well as fully automated versions are being developed. Radio Frequency Identification (`RFID') I am particularly pleased to be able to advise that the growth in the Group's RFID applications has been considerable and we are creating a new RFID division focusing exclusively on this significant and fast expanding area. RFID is increasingly considered to be the preferred technology to replace bar-coding and otherwise to identify objects. A major component of the RFID business is the Tag, which is attached to the relevant item and houses and transmits the relevant item data. The technical challenge of the Tag can be assigned to the semiconductor chip which contains the data, but the business challenge is the industrial cost of the Tag and, in particular, the metal antenna integrated in the Tag which represents the biggest cost component. We have been able to apply our core technology of metal deposition on plastic in creating our proprietary cost efficient antennae suitable for all Tags. The development arose as a consequence of increasing requests for assistance from our customers. Moreover, the RF competence which we have accumulated in terms of skills and experience for engineering EMC solutions, has furnished us with know-how, particularly suitable for positioning the Group in a leading role in the RFID business, with special competence on design and industrial solutions for the Tag. In particular, the combinatorial competence of our research and development team discovered a simple and cost-efficient method for utilizing all the relevant components needed for the whole Tag in a simple process. Patents have been filed for these processes and the Group has engaged upon an aggressive R&D campaign paralleled by a business exploration in terms of actual opportunity for antenna supply and of strategic cooperation and alliances in pursuit of a business with the most promising prospects of growth for the next decade. Two patents have been applied for in the period. Several companies, already active in the RFID market, have expressed interest in the Group's solutions. Future Prospects Microwave Components Potential Although still in the development stage, an additional extrapolation of the useful combination of plastic structures with metal coating for electronic use has led the Group to research microwave products on metal coated plastic structures. Initial R&D results in the reporting period, associated with specific customer requirements, indicate that the development is encouraging either from the technical feasibility viewpoint or for the business potential in terms of both volume and attractive profit perspectives. Creation of new Business Divisions Our EMC sales are gaining momentum at a more than satisfactory pace, with new customers being added and previous customers - as expected - moving from prototype to full production orders. The development and sale to our customers of the new DECA product line should better secure repeat and continuing business. Having regard for the different requirements, needs and opportunities which our applications and products have provided us with, we intend to divide the business into two distinct units. The Group intends to favour and to continue to encourage our traditional focused approach by establishing an EMC Business Unit ready to aggressively continue our planned product, market and industrial expansion in that area. In order to properly pursue the impressive growth prospects identified and technically confirmed in the RFID market and industrial sector, a separate RFID Business Unit will also be launched with its own resources totally and exclusively dedicated to RFID in order to achieve specific objectives according to a multi year business plan now under development. The Company is relocating from its existing premises to a larger nearby property which is suitable for our expansion needs. Appreciation The period has been one of great development, achievement and satisfaction thanks to the commitment, devotion and hard work of all of the Group's employees. On behalf of the board of directors, I thank them for their efforts and our shareholders for their support. I look forward to the group fulfilling the promise which the next year presents. 14/6/2005 22:53 | Looking quickly at INN the value of BLS appears quite modest. Interesting day ahead tomorrow. Positive news on sales ramping up and future prospects to look forward to.. I hope anyway! Dibbs | dibbs
14/6/2005 09:38 | Still ticking up nicely. Seems that the story is finally getting out. If you read the INN results today (which were weaker than some expected) it still gives useful information on likely RFID launches and the SIZE of them. Looking good for steady rises | britishbear
03/6/2005 12:32 | INN also flying today - seems to be RFID news coming through strongly. Looking good. | britishbear
03/6/2005 11:34 | Nice little rise today, hopefully a sign to good looking results this month.... | sheeneqa
02/6/2005 11:55 | Head n shoulders chart, or consolidation before the next upmove ? The sale today with no impact on price (yet) bodes well imo. | mike crowsoft
24/5/2005 21:05 | IMO heading for 2 pounds before profit taking takes place. Thinking of topping up tomorrow.bbbbbb | mysterons
24/5/2005 14:05 | Another in the rfid sector Belgravium BVM....... Was getting a bit twitchy with BLS, so glad the trend has changed, averaging down and getting it right for once.......... | sheeneqa
24/5/2005 10:47 | With a trade of over £500,000 going through someone is obviously taking a position. I suspect that we will get an RNS soon from an institution taking a stake. Could be good insider information ahead of the results. All about the forward looking statement and any RFID developments. | britishbear
23/5/2005 17:37 | Sorry Katy. I missed the updated announcement last week. They are, as you say, on the 15th June. The strong move, on good volume, still bodes well though imo :-) | mike crowsoft
23/5/2005 17:33 | Results tomorrow? 15th June surely?... | katylied
23/5/2005 17:32 | This strong move, on good volume, ahead of results tomorrow bodes well imo. | mike crowsoft
23/5/2005 12:55 | Thanks Mike - always a pleasure. Another good little rise today - not much stock about and news still filtering through. Some big volumes going through and most seemingly buys (check the times). Spread is still a little nasty. | britishbear
23/5/2005 09:09 | Well done BB, and many thanks. | mike crowsoft
20/5/2005 11:13 | It seems that it does not take a lot of buying to get this share shifting. I suspect that the large sales from last week have been absorbed and that the MM's are short on stock. There must be a large buy that will be reported later or else we could see even more action on the upside as the reality of these patent wins sinks in. | britishbear |
