so, we've got an auction going on here with one bid at £1.2bn (350p a share) and one at £1.5bn (presumably 420p a share)

depends on what happens to the debt, and assumes these figures are comparable I suppose, but thats enough info for me to hold at 345p

i think there is alot going on behind the scenes, and i am not letting my shares go at this price.

Surprisingly muted reaction to that figure- 345p at present. Presumably the market is unconvinced about the GEC bid .It is a bit of a bolt on acquisition ; perhaps the feeling is that GEC is not that committed.

Times has it has £1.5b vs previous £1.2b thus 25% higher so = c£4.30

Daily mail tipped Shanks for 2008 recently, much for the same reasons I hold these. Tempted to sell just to cover losses in everything else I hold but I'm holding on for now.....

The 'Recent News' column report lots of 'long' interest in terms of derivatives. No one on this BB seems to have commented on this. Is it too obvious or doesn't it mean anything?
