market does not seem to feel there is much more to be had, stating the obvious we have to have another bidder , or someone is going to get a bargain viewed over ten years, but with Le crunch this is the time to pick up cos on the cheap.

How the hell does a stock market provider get involved with property-related debt? Oh, of course, it all come under financial services - ie. more comm

According to the press, the previous tilt was 325. If true, then the rejection is obvious now.

1.1 billion pounds is just about the price now. but they should be able to pay a couple of hundred millions pounds more and the company is certanily worth that amount at least.

That was 1 very bearish journalist in the USA...the story since then has never resurfaced.....and from today's newswires....

US stock markets, which have enjoyed a two-day rally, edged higher as online broker ETrade announced it had won a $2.5bn injection from one of America's biggest hedge funds, Citadel.

I thought that too. Which is particularly dodgy if they operate nominee accounts as many do. Given that other dealing platform went bust recently (cant think of name) and took their records with them, people are taking a long time to figure out who actually owns what.

Selftrade had been 3750 both ways in the morning, and chopped it to 750. Last stock I took up with them for doing this was indeed lightly traded - and to be fair they did show it as for telephone trading only (discovered after the size had been chopped!) but this one makes no sense, if - as Mark says- there are 12000 on the strip.

They always blame their supplier - the RSPs - but I suspect that other online brokers may get better service from the RSPs.

As Holts says, it seems to be a shortcoming of Selftrade, and also their new look site is noticeably slower. So by the fact that we can not make trades, they are losing revenue.

I also wonder if the presence of Plus markets aggravates the effect by diverting some trades.

muted response, mark, selftrade had gone to a size of 750, but selftrade frequently have stupid sizes, I know not where they come from , but their platform is poor in this respect.

Deal at 365p? The major shareholders will definitely want to avoid a Bodycote debacle in the current climate and the Board should be in active discussions with them (for a change) to see exactly what is acceptable.

Selftrade have just chopped the max dealing size by 90%. So anyone buying in at earlier sizes (or vv.) is now effectively trapped. Means I can't now add in a decent size. Anyone else having this problem?

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Montagu Private Equity LLP and Hg Pooled
Management Ltd (HgCapital) said on Nov 27 they made a further written approach
to the board of Biffa PLC and they are waiting for a response.
The firms are requesting talks with a view to securing a recommendation for
a possible cash offer for the waste management company, following Biffa's
rejection of their initial approach on Sept 4.
Montagu and HgCapital said they remain highly committed to pursuing a
possible offer for the company and remain keen to enter into substantive
discussions with its board.
"This interest has not been diminished by the recent announcement of the
departure of Biffa's chief executive Martin Bettington," Montagu said. He
announced his departure in March on Monday, coinciding with the company's
interim results report.
The firms reiterated that, following the rejection, the bid vehicle formed
for the purpose of making any offer started the acquisition of a shareholding in
Biffa. On Friday, they said the vehicle held a 2.4 pct stake in the company.
