Buff - Is the divi sustainable in your opinion?

All the negative press about China slowing down ,devaluation ,falling market as well as soon to rise US interest rates has smacked ADN hard .FT still commenting on how things will get worse before they improve in the far East as PE ratios are still 12x and have been as low as 8x.May be a rocky ride for a year or two but the massive divi should help cushion the blow until the tide turns.

Great article from Martin Gilbert dated 8/8/15. I welcome this new thread as we now enter yet another new paradigm. Just look at the wider developments! (China Devaluation et al) since he wrote the above piece. I still believe his main thrust remains valid, but there will clearly be bumps as he and Aberdeen AM have found.

Hmmm.

This is a well run company.

Still set to make humongous amounts of money this year.

They take 0.37% of assets under management (£300 billion in assets) is a large chunk of change.

Very cheap now - (not saying cannot get cheaper)- but very cheap now.

Just followed director Richard Mully in today....this fall seems somewhat over-done to me.

Nice forecast dividend yield at these levels too.

There is a powerful consensus that emerging economies will continue to outperform the developed world for the next 35 years...

Morning All

FWIW, I joined you all for a small nibble here this morning too-as a medium term, probably, investment.

Good fortune to all holders.

I've bought a few of these today. Undervalued by the market (I hope) and good prospects going forward to return value to shareholders.

Well not great update today - emerging markets have come off. And as that is alot of what ADN sells. . .well you get the picture. .

But Emerging markets have swung from very expensive to extremely cheap now . .

meanwhile this remains a hugely profitable and cash generative company.

I was on the conference call and the intention is is to maintain a progressive divi policy.I also learnt ADN now have more than £1 billion in cash (75p per share) so this is eminently doable.

Interesting. Well, EPS executive fudging aside and the 'look how we have improved the profit per share with your capital folks' routine, I suppose one could take the view that they are taking advantage of cheap money to finance capital growth. At least, I am sure that's what they would say. Nice divi though. Oh, but wait a minute...

Why would you announce a share buy back of £100m then issue no voting prefs for the same value? Is it smoke and mirrors to make EPS look better?
