Well my November optimism was definitely misplaced with this one! Hitting new lows this morning with the rest of the market in recovery mode. Its a long shot, but I can only hope it attracts a predator at this sort of valuation.

Yes - I suppose applies even more for ALAI, Aberdeen Latin America Income fund then, with yield of almost 10%

Yes - and still going down. I have the patience to wait a while longer. I still say it will react badly when the US does raise interest rates and emerging markets catch the cold.

Sub 300 ...

Certainly on my watch list. I'll watch and wait for now. I think emerging markets might just take a big knock when the US starts to raise interest rates. This could take a hit along with everything else and that would be the time to buy. That's the plan anyway, but it's only a plan and not a contract. Sub 300 and I wouldn't wait any longer.

You bunch of optimists! )

I think it's one to buy a big wider market down day, but can see
the attraction.

Convinced myself, and added at 321.

HL take on things is certainly taking a positive, longer-term view:

Agree 6% yield and bullet proof balance sheet should keep this from cratering too much.

Some in the city clearly want this lower(are short) but there are no moving parts.

when emerging markets come back strongly so will this

Agreed Oxman. If you can take a LT view on things, now might not be a bad time to add. The 6%+ dividend provides some protection and any upswing in EM's should see the share price recover rapidly(many commentators are saying EM's now look relatively cheap by historical measures). In the meantime, any fall below £3 could also see the takeover rumours resurface...

AUM down and pressure still there and this feels like it may the worst quarter we see. But it's in the price and div is a big support. Lots of upside should or when emerging markets eventually recover.

No unknowns in these results.

Revenue and profits are up a touch - a surprise one would think given previous update . . .

I think that the city is expecting a disaster today in the results . .

I do not think that they have got it

More pain for Aberdeen -

Aberdeen Asset Management (ADN) has had a difficult end to a difficult year, with more outflows in the final quarter.

Jefferies analyst Phil Dobbin retained his ‘hold’ recommendation but reduced the target price from 405p to 315p. The shares rose 5.3% to 322.8p yesterday.

‘Weakness in Aberdeen’s equity assets, during the last quarter of its financial year, and the potential for net outflows remaining at Q3’s elevated level into Q4, lead us to reduce our forecasts,’ he said.

‘Our 2015 estimated earnings per share forecast falls by 4% and out 2016 estimated forecast by 15%. Our free cashflow to equity valuation falls to 319p.

Dobbin also hiked his expectations of outflows from the fund group.

‘More significant in our view, since it represents a permanent reduction in fee earning assets, is the likely impact of net outflows in the quarter,’ he said. ‘The macro background for emerging markets and global equity has remained unhelpful for net flows and furthermore the press has noted the potential for a major oil-related sovereign wealth fund to redeem asset. In this respect Aberdeen is not helped by its recent performance in its global equity fund.

‘We have upped our net outflow expectation from £5.7 billion to £7.2 billion, with our equity net outflow expectation rising from £2.8 billion to £4.1 billion.’

Aberdeen Defies China Slowdown With Key Deal

The FTSE-100 fund manager will sign an agreement to expand its presence in the world's second-largest economy, Sky News learns.

Sunday 20 September 2015

Aberdeen Asset Management is to become the first British fund manager to gain a key licence from Beijing to operate on the Chinese mainland just weeks after turmoil in Shanghai's stock markets hit the FTSE-100 group's shares.

You quoted PE ratios above. For the life of me I can not find a website that will give me pe ratios by country on a regular basis. Can you direct me? Just for each country's main index, and div yield as well would be good.

Thanks

Consensus estimates are 30.7p earnings and a dividend of 19.5p plus £680m cash so I expect them not to cut it …but if the falling market leads to further dramatic falls in AUM anything is possible.
