Kraft Heinz is committing to reducing its use of virgin plastic in its packaging by 20% by 2030, saying it will use more recycled plastic and replace current packaging with designs that use less plastic.
The foodmaker said the commitment is in line with its broader goals to make completely recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging by 2025, reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and halve its emissions by 2030.
"We are investing in innovative technologies and partnerships that are critical to helping us redesign packaging, eliminate unnecessary plastic, increase our use of recycled content, and influence the adoption of reuse models," said Rashida La Lande, Kraft Heinz's chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer.
