Personal computers won't fade away from the technology landscape, but will evolve into a combination of the best features of a PC and a tablet, Intel Corp. (INTC) Chief Financial Officer Stacy Smith said in an interview with CNBC Wednesday.
Mr. Smith said technology is becoming increasingly personal and mobile, and said "we were a little slow to recognize the trend towards mobility" but that Intel is "moving fast now."
In an interview with Fox Business Network, Mr. Smith expressed optimism about the "confluence of events" expected for the second half of the year, including sales of devices with Haswell chips and Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) launch of Windows 8.1.
Asked about set-top boxes, Mr. Smith said he sees "big opportunity in the living room" and said Intel is "well into negotiation with content providers."
