The mkt cap of £227m is only a bit higher than the last balance sheet NTAV of £202m. So at some point LTHM shareholders should receive a bonus from special divis, buybacks, etc.

It’s difficult to think of any other small cap with a balance sheet this ridiculously strong, so LTHM shares are absolutely copper-bottomed, for investors who want to sleep at night.

I have to stay at GREEN, due to this immense financial strength, and reasonable valuation (providing future profits don't slip)

Buy recommendation in today's Investors Chronicle on line. Yes I know "kiss of death" and all the usual rollocks about the IC

"Industry data suggests James Latham is operating in a resilient market. UK timber and joinery sales increased every month this year with the exception of April and May, according to GfK data, while timber demand has driven gains in the category over the third quarter. The company’s outlook is mixed. Coronavirus headaches for industries such as hospitality and shops have weighed upon business levels, though, conversely, demand for its commodity panel products is high. As a result, margins have increased since the end of the interim period. With Brexit on the horizon, James Latham has increased stock levels in product categories most likely to be affected by the UK’s exit from the EU."

As mentioned by CR:-

Holdings in Company

Director's Shareholding

James Latham announces that Northland Capital Partners Limited, the Company's broker, has arranged a placing ("the Placing") of the Company's shares held by Sir Robert McAlpine Enterprises Limited ("SRMEL"). Following the Placing, the Company has been notified by SRMEL that it is no longer a shareholder in James Latham. The shares were placed at GBP5.00 each with new and existing shareholders.

Commenting on the change in the share register, Peter Latham, Chairman of James Latham, said: "the McAlpine family has been a strong and valuable supporter of the Company over many years and in their place we are pleased to welcome a number of institutional investors onto the share register."

The Company has been notified that Meryl Bushell, a non-executive director of James Latham, purchased 5,000 shares in the Placing. Mrs Bushell now holds 9,400 ordinary shares of 25p each in the Company representing 0.05 per cent. of the total voting rights.

Latham James provider of wood products produced encouraging results today and ahead in most margins from this time last year. The balance sheet has been strengthened and the reduction of the pension deficit down to 5.47m from 9.28m is certainly good going.

While in line with market expectations I hope the broker forecasts will now be updated. They have earnings to decrease slightly, but giving the results here I now expect them to be an increase. If this is the case then valuation is cheap.

Trading at a historic PE of 10 and forward PE of around 13. Historic PEG ((non slater metric) of 0.78 and a Rolling PEG of 0.26
Pre-Tax multiple to Market Cap (The Naked Trader way) is around 9x.
This company has a net cash position of 12.60m.
Operating margins also increasing and should go above the 6.91p/

For momentum investors/traders the 12 month RS is over 27% and on the 53 High.

This is part of my main ISA portfolio and happy with the results

I find Latham un-investible due to the ballooning retirement benefit liability now a whacking £16.7m. The liability should have been constrained years ago and is now a heavy burden for retail investors. So why invest, there are better and more reasonable BoD's around ?

Just started looking at this company as potential long-term buy. The fundamentals seem very impressive, so am I missing something here?

Net current assets of £35m. Turnover £110m, Profit of £34m in last 2 years (p[erating profit seems steady at £5m a year), yet Market CAP on this company is only £46m - plus the interims said £10m is due to be paid in cash for the sale of a site and Nevill Long, so they're going to be rolling in cash. Interims also said margins have increased too.

So any wiser investors got opinions on this - it seems a nice stable, reliable earner for the AIM market.
