So where can you actually spend your bitcoins? More and more businesses are taking the digital currency as payment, from coffee shops to online e-commerce stores – for example, Microsoft has added bitcoin as a payment option for its digital content, Dell will sell you a PC that you can pay for with bitcoins, and some games companies will accept bitcoins for in-app purchases.
At the other end of the scale, a car dealer in California recently sold a Lamborghini Gallardo for bitcoin.
At the moment the transaction fee means that it’s not practical to use bitcoins for micropayments (transactions of less than a pound or a dollar), although that may change in the future.
You can find merchants who will take bitcoins as payment near you via marketplaces and aggregator sites, like this list here: http://www.wheretospendbitcoins.co.uk/.
