YORK, May 31, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ --
Comissão de Viticultura da Região dos Vinhos Verdes (CVRVV) is
proud to announce that out of the 26 wines submitted, the region
earned 15 TEXSOM awards; 2 Gold, 5 Silver, and 8 Bronze Medals.
Below, please find a detailed list of the wines that received these
awards.
The TEXSOM Awards accepted over 2,356 entries and were judged by
42 top industry members. Of the entries judged, the judges awarded
1,677 medals: 19 Judges' Selection medals, 76 Platinum medals, 233
Gold medals, 676 Silver medals, and 673 Bronze medals.
The Vinho Verde region consists of 9 sub-regions, on over 17,000
HA of vineyards. The region is the largest in Portugal by total area, with 96,372 million
liters produced in 2022 and more than 100 export markets. These
wines are created with a modern and sustainable winemaking process
that has adapted to the changing climate and world.
Vinho Verde's dedication to sustainability and production is
shown in two styles. One style showcases a classic profile; young,
light, fresh and with low alcohol. The other holds a more
structured profile, revealing more body, complexity, aromatic
intensity, and persistence. Vinho Verde lies slightly above sea
level, with the Atlantic Ocean to the West and mountain ranges on
the East and South, creating more Mediterranean
characteristics.
