Just been checking the lists of IDVD's. FFS, everyone and their dogs are putting them out. There is literally just too many to keep up with. Can anyone remember whether or not we determined if Lace and Brightsparks were using DES cos' they are making them like there is no tomorrow.

Di' I just checked out the Woolies site and their search for ID's and they list about 84, of which there are about 10 of those Interactive Kareoke which arent really IDvd. On the Amazon list you get stuff wjich has been released in 2003 etc.

Mac, yes, indeed they are. Several are the second in the franchise - wwtbam is 4th.

Last years versions sell for less than the current years. From zoos pov, if the des licence fee is fixed for a prticular title, then it's in zoo's interest for lower selling prices (the lower the price, the more they sell compared to what they would have sold had the price not been lowered). (That applies for the des fee, but not for the developer royalties which zoo get this year - those are based on the publisher revenue after certain costs are deducted, so reduce for lower selling prices - at least if they follow the normal vg licence model).).

Artey - how many are idvds then?

If you sort them is sales rank, the first few pages are all what we term idvds. I didn't go through every page. At the lower selling end, there's all sorts of various stuff. The important end is the high selling end though.

If you are doing the "interactive" search to get 270 Di', there are far from 270 many many are anything but.

I can't fault your logic Phil. A couple of years ago, this spiked 50% on decent news. The potoential today for that sort of thing is far higher because the shares in issue are a fraction of what they were, and also the free float is tiny. It needs official news to boot this into action - I just can't see any potential for bad news at all in the near future. Good news (idvd sales updates, or just one sale of TAS or the Regionalisation software to another studio following Disney, will drive the price up quickly (before any trades, the mms will set the price much higher if they're awake at the time).

I wonder if the brokers knew how many idvds were to be on sale this Christmas. 270 on Amazom - about 220 more than I thought. And zoo said, unless I imagined it, that 60% would be DES. A broker upgrade is possible, or even probable, given the idvd sales looking likely to beat expectations. The closest thing to a nobrainer I've seen for a long time.

I'm sure I read you value honesty too Cash. Strange.

O/T - Cash, nothing makes me cringe more on the desparado sites as people who say 'what you see is what you get', and 'I have a gsoh'. They may not put off the bottom of the barrel you seem to be aiming for though! Ever seen anyone put 'I am lacking in humour' or 'you don't get what you see with me'?

Picked up a few more - no point in waiting for another major deal; m/c £2M and they'll rocket when they announce another sale of the software to Hollywood.

In the meantime; cash rich and the iDVDs selling very strongly.

No Brainer IMHO. DYOR etc.

Rob, You mean Zoo would have liked to have got a rake off from a game based on another very big hit tv show? Well I never. I wish I had your foresight Rob.

Still, I doubt brokers forecasts are based on zoo having a 100% market share.

From what I'm reading, I think it's highly likely that next years dond will be produced with des, don't you?

Biggets selling iDVD on Amazon (last night at least) was wwtbam, where zoo gets the relatively very high developer revenue this year, as well as the smaller DES fee - dond was nr 2. I hope dond is selling by the bucketloads.

jj and i had some of zoos own idvd offerings demoed to us at the agm last month (such as Q of sport, latest wwtbam etc). they were superb, ultra slick and ultra quick. the reviews on deal or no deal to my mind reflect the real difference between a DVDExtra product, put together by an outfit that knows both the technology and the format inside out, and the sort of shoddy treatment that dond has received. for example, the gripes about 'only being offered one box at a time', and 'having to scroll through all of the boxes individually, screen by screen' just shows the shortcuts taken by dond creators to reduce interactivity required.

as the format and genre matures, the IP owners will be forced to go with the only technology that delivers the quality that the consumers will be demanding.
