Loglorry,It's important to understand the local geology This is right near the acreage and they've learnt from the previous failings/blowouts. So far so good. What we know is the well is flowing Gas and Condensate (ref 60 API oil - that's condensate). Let's see where we are in a couple of weeks when they conclude testing operations and prepare an early estimate of resources.Cash

There have been many many attempts on this basin that have been sub-commercial. Not sure cherry picking one that worked adds anything at all.

They need substantial oil or condensate to make this commercial.

Hi all, I’ve just come across this company and have read that they are drilling with imminent results.

Can some of the more knowledgeable investors please outline the potential upside share price wise if this well produced what they are expecting and also the downside if results aren’t as expected?

Any help would be much appreciated, my gut is telling me to buy 100k as it will be a good result but….

Loglorry,Maybe, but I doubt it. It's simply the initial high flowback, very common in this area in many wells. This is from an old update from Delta petroleum regarding a well that the old Zephyr (Rose petroleum) mentioned a number of times in their historic updates. To the West of their acreage;"Delta PetroleumDelta Petroleum's Federal 28-11 well began flowing from the bottom interval of the 16 clastic intervals through a separator at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007. Over the first 24 hours, the well produced 4.32 million cubic feet of natural gas (Mmcf) and 794 barrels of 60 gravity oil on a 28/64" choke. Over the first 48 hours, the well produced 7.5 Mmcf of natural gas and 1,379 barrels of oil. During the last 24 hours the production stabilized. This is an un-stimulated "open hole" test. When drilling the well, Delta was unable to penetrate completely through this interval due to the very high pressures that were encountered. The Company plans to recommence drilling to access the remainder of this interval and additional deeper zones. This is the same clastic interval that experienced the surface blow-out in the Greentown State 36-11 discovery well, and the pressures encountered in the Federal 28-11 well are very consistent with pressures seen in both the Greentown State 36-11 and 32-42 wells, which are located six miles to the north and 1.5 miles to the south, respectively. The Federal 28-11 has 15 additional oil- and gas-bearing clastic intervals that contain approximately 900feet of potentially productive zone that the Company plans to test and complete in the future"Cash

Cash don't you think maybe they'd crank up the flow for the photoshoot? They were certainly wise enough to take the picture at night for best effect :-)

I don't think you can conclude anything about flow rates from this picture other than some sort of flow has been achieved.

The output from the well will be flowing thru a separator with the gas going to the flare stack and the condensate to tanks.
If it is a high pressure well a 1/4 inch choke is a common starter size increasing to 1 inch over time depending on the constraints of the surface equipment.
The other limit which has been previously talked about is the amount of gas which can be flared during the test.

From Cruicky6464 on LSE"Flow ratesA couple of things I took from the image of the flareOne is that it is so clean burning it's only gas, so are they flowing the condensates to some sort of storage for onward sales. Also the size of the flare I would estimate to be greater than 12 mmscf/d with liquids on top of this. Also as I previously stated it's normal to start initial flow rates with a small choke. So hopefully the well is capable of flowing a lot more. The next few days they will be able to have a lot more information of how big the find is.I am hoping they will post the initial flow rate's tomorrow or Thursday.Exciting times indeed"

For those moaning about gas prices:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 9, 2024
EIA expects rising electricity demand and natural gas prices to affect electricity fuel mix for the rest of 2024
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) expects that the United States will generate more electricity from renewables and coal in the second half of this year, as electricity demand and natural gas prices increase. In its July Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), EIA forecasts that natural gas prices will be about 36% higher in the second half of the year than in the first half of the year, which the agency expects will lead to a decrease in electricity generation from natural gas—the largest fuel source for U.S. electricity.

Those rollovers seem to be all below mid, painting quite a distorted picture of a "balance" wheteas in reality buys outweigh sells making the share price action somewhat questionable.

Ignore the doom-mongers and take any supporters comments with a pinch of salt too. Let's all be grown ups and make our own minds up by doing our own research and making our own decisions. Group-think either way is unhealthy for your bank balance, it's your money, everyone get their big boy pants on and take responsibility for your own investments and ignore the noise. It's much better that way.

Malcy:

This is a very solid announcement from Zephyr but just to put things straight, the company, who are amongst the most open about keeping shareholders in touch, had said that they would tell shareholders when the production test was starting and that is simply what this is about.

For me it is actually pretty good news in its own right even though it is only the start of testing. For starters the fact that they are seeing both gas and condensate straight away is encouraging as typically one would expect to see gas first and then oil/condensate later as the flow back progresses.

And shareholders should not panic, in my view this announcement was never meant to be anything technical today, it really is only the start of the process and CEO Colin Harrington and the whole team are feeling in a good spot right now. Nevertheless the next two weeks should be exciting and shareholders have every right to dream the dream, watch this space…

I would much rather read both views.
