African Swine Fever

Whilst the Group's animals have not been affected by the outbreak of African Swine Fever in Zambia, the government-imposed restrictions on the movement of pigs and the sale of pork products, which lasted for approximately three months until mid-February 2014, have significantly impacted performance at Master Pork. The Group anticipates a return to normal trading and profitability in the second half of the year for the Pork Products division, although these factors have resulted in the business being well behind management expectations in the first half of the year.

Every year the BoD have a list of 'reasons' aka 'excuses', why they missed the targets they set. This year the markets quite rightly hammered them.

If Mr Francis Grogan, Chief Executive Officer of Zambeef is African Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 then i do not think there is much hope for Africa just now.

Looks like the share price in Lusaka went up yesterday it was 3.5Kw on Friday and today 3.9Kw ! interesting.

Thanks tradesmarter, good charts.

The only worrying aspect for me is the RSI well above 70, indicating the stock is in overbought territory.

What are your thoughts as a technical analyst?

Cheers Rotors, Good Luck to you also.

Gordon, If i was anything but honest in my posting, I would have been all over this thread with positive comment trying to drive some interest before selling, I wasn't. If Sata's party get voted out in June sure i will look again. Untill then i am solidly on the sidelines.

tenapen,

This seems to follow the classic pattern of buying stock, then seeing a decline in price, awaiting recovery to near the purchase price - and getting out!

I quote from your Fastjet post of Jan 6th, which could apply here too:

"I also had but sold way too early."

Best of luck to you though.

Rotors,
I Broke even at best, and that is after 2 & 1/2yrs invested in ZAM, so i hardly took the money and ran, as you say.

We all have are own 'risk vs reward' level and i realy do hope it works out good for you. I will enjoy from the sidelines and i will post again all ZAM news, now that i have no possition.
